I had someone helping me and he got it set up, but when I clicked on admin. panel, an error came up saying it could not be found. this is the error that I keep getting now when i fill out the database page

The critical error is usually because something in the config.php file is wrong.

It has to have the right info to see the databases.

Make sure all the user/passord/table name etc in there is all correct for starters.

You need to first create the database, phpBB only adds tables to a database. Also, read the Help for Newbies in my sig.
