Do I need PHP on my PC to install phpbb

Post by waynefrank »

Do I need PHP on my PC to install phpbb on my web host server? Here

http://www.phpbb.com/support/documents. ... ll#require

It says phpbb requires
PHP (4.0.3 and above) with support for the database you intend to use above
(I am planning to use mySql)

I would be installing phpbb on powweb http://powweb.com/PowWeb/OnePlan/Detail

I do not have a PHP compiler on my PC, and have no experience with PHP. Is this a roadblock?
Thanks, Wayne

his post said...he wants to know if he needs to install php on his computer to install it on his server.

so i think he has a computer and a separate server, and somehow he thinks he needs to have php installed on his computer so that his server won't feel lonely.

i think that is a good idea, install php on your computer, and then your server will agree to have php installed on it.

:D :D :D :D :D :) :) :) :) :)

sorry, i don't mean any offense, i was just kidding.

but what the OP is saying was, he has his own computer. and then he said "web host server", so obviously his web host has a separate server.

so, his question was, does he need to install php on his computer to have it installed on his web host server.

you should contact your web host and get them to resolve it. you should not install php on your computer.
Signatures are usually lame. Such as this one.

He says he's installing it on powweb. The link to that deal looks like it has all the bits you need to install a phpbb forum. It has both php4 and 5. I'd go for 4 at the moment.
