The answer is, "it depends". Variables in templates have to match the assignments in the files that call those templates. Variable names in the language file have to match the variables used in the programs that are outputting them. The key, though, is to compare the files involved in visual confirmation on your forum with a "clean" set, and check the differences between them for anything that would affect the operation of VC.

Don't have that many - profile_add_body.tpl, admin/board_config.tpl in the templates directory, includes/usercp_register.php, admin/admin_board.php amongst the programs.

Line by line I’ve gone over everything that was not matched in each file.

I did not see any differences involving “Visual Confirmation”, in the files you mentioned or file under my phpbb dir.

Any other ideas?

in profile_add_body.tpl you should have this:

Code: Select all

<!-- Visual Confirmation -->
	<!-- BEGIN switch_confirm -->
	<tr>
		<td class="row1" colspan="2" align="center"><span class="gensmall">{L_CONFIRM_CODE_IMPAIRED}</span><br /><br />{CONFIRM_IMG}<br /><br /></td>
	</tr>
	<tr>
	  <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_CONFIRM_CODE}: * </span><br /><span class="gensmall">{L_CONFIRM_CODE_EXPLAIN}</span></td>
	  <td class="row2"><input type="text" class="post" style="width: 200px" name="confirm_code" size="6" maxlength="6" value="" /></td>
	</tr>
	<!-- END switch_confirm -->
in admin/board_config.tpl you should have this:

Code: Select all

<tr>
		<td class="row1">{L_VISUAL_CONFIRM}<br /><span class="gensmall">{L_VISUAL_CONFIRM_EXPLAIN}</span></td>
		<td class="row2"><input type="radio" name="enable_confirm" value="1" {CONFIRM_ENABLE} />{L_YES}&nbsp; &nbsp;<input type="radio" name="enable_confirm" value="0" {CONFIRM_DISABLE} />{L_NO}</td>
	</tr>
in ncludes/usercp_register.php you should have this at the very top of the page and many other references to the confirm code.

Code: Select all

/*

	This code has been modified from its original form by psoTFX @ phpbb.com
	Changes introduce the back-ported phpBB 2.2 visual confirmation code.

	NOTE: Anyone using the modified code contained within this script MUST include
	a relevant message such as this in usercp_register.php ... failure to do so
	will affect a breach of Section 2a of the GPL and our copyright

	png visual confirmation system : (c) phpBB Group, 2003 : All Rights Reserved

*/
in admin/admin_board.php you should have this:

Code: Select all

$confirm_yes = ($new['enable_confirm']) ? 'checked="checked"' : '';
$confirm_no = (!$new['enable_confirm']) ? 'checked="checked"' : '';
and other bits of confirm code.

	</tr>

I did however find it in subsilver/admin/board_config_body.tpl and in that refrence it is 100% the same.

Anything else I should look for? And is that in the wrong file?

Could it be somethign wrong with the SQL?

Anyone that can help please post your thoughts...

THANKS!

why not give this a try. rename all those files you just checked ( on the server )
then upload fresh copies of them from the phpbb zip file.

fresh copies, means copies that you have not opened and looked at in any way. if necessary, get a new download from here.

the object is to see if you are somehow corrupting the files before you can upload them.

also, do NOT use dreamweaver to upload the files, use a ftp program in ascii mode, this will make sure that they are not getting corrupted during transfer.

Ok, I copied all the original files over and it still did not work.

I've updated to 2.0.19 and it still does not work.

If it is not a file problem, then maybe it can be a SQL problem? But I tried all that SQL stuff in the beginning…

What do you guys think?

Can anyone please help?

Thanks!

Frankly, after nearly two weeks of you bumping this topic on a regular basis, I do not think there is anyone left to offer suggestions. You've tapped out the well of normal solutions that don't involve bungled code changes on your part, which you've said aren't a factor.

Short of backing up the database and any MOD-related files on the site, blowing away EVERYTHING, reinstalling a clean copy of PHPBB 2.0.19, restoring your database, the adding your MODs back in one-by-one, testing after each is added to see if things still work, there isn't much left. Replacing all of the files related to Visual Confirmation has not affected the situation, per your reports - there must be something on your system that is interfering with the operation of those files, and no one except you can know what that is, since we don't have your system in front of us.
