Horizontal Scrollbar - Why?

Post by alehawk »

Hi!
I love this forum but I had found something that I cant fix.
Look over here:

http://www.forodeastrologia.com.ar/view ... 0773#60773

I have to scroll to the right to read the message. I downloaded the code that the IE shows and I opened with dreamweaver and the table widtth are correct but still I can see the horizontal scrollbar.
Today I added the toobar on the left but before I added you could still see the scrollbar.
Here you can see other post and no horizontal scrollbar...

http://www.forodeastrologia.com.ar/viewtopic.php?t=5243

It seems that sometimes is needed and sometimes not...
Can this be fixed?
Tnx!!

I visited both links listed and there were no horizontal scrollbars. Maybe it's your computer. Try using a different computer/browser to confirm this.

Its cause your screen resulation is 800 x 600 try changing it the the 1024 one.

Or get rid of the left block.

I looked at your links with 800 X 600 resolution, and there are horizontal scrollbars on both. At 1024 X 768 and higher, there are only vertical scrollbars.

By looking at both of your screen shots, it appears you have the same resolution. alehawk - Try micaribe's suggestion.

the point is that you have too much stuff that is taking up the space. remove or resize the left panel or the right panel or the graphics at the top or something.

Hey, I just re-read your original post and I noticed where you said sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. If you notice, this thread has a horizontal scrollbar. It's because the image you posted is wider than the forum, so the forum stretches to surround the image, creating a horizontal scrollbar... I don't see anything in the links you posted that would cause this, but you never know...
I would also try the suggestion of looking at your pages with different resolutions and different browsers. I have Firefox installed too, but your page looks the same on that as it does in IE. Lowering my screen resolution to 800 X 600 will make nearly any webpage I look at have horizontal scrollbars.

The graphics at the top threw me for a second, but it's his browser doing that, not the page. It took me awhile to figure that one out. It's a bit early for me (late night typing code) and I haven't had my second cup of coffee yet......

I think I didnt explained myself when I said that sometimes happens, I ment that in some posts happens and in some not.
I notice that when he user is a guest user the scrollbar wont appear in the post and if the user is registered it will appear.
THe thing is that a registeres user will see the horizontal scrollbar in some posts and in some not and the horizontal and vertical toolbar plus the site images are the same for every post in the site...
I dont know what is happening... any ideas?
Tnx

What changes about the pages when you login?
Are there different graphics on your pages for a logged in user?
Do you have links hidden in the header that only show up when you're logged in?
Do you have a banner rotation on there and possibly some of the banners are larger than others, causing the screen to widen when those banners appear?
If you yourself see the scrollbar when logged in, if you logout, does the scrollbar instantly disappear?
Does the opposite happen when you login?

Yes, when I log off the scrollbar disappears.
I used the View Source Code function in IE and opened the html with Dreamweaver and the html code is correct, I cant figure what is making the horizontal scrollbar appear.
I dont have any banner that is not from google and are available for registered users and guest too.
If you look at the html code can you figure out where is the problem?
Tnx!
