Search Problems

Post by stevefree »

I'm running a simple PHPBB site (2.0.19) with only a few thousand topics.

http://www.dogs4sale.net

When I type in words like: Puppies or Dogs I get:

No topics or posts met your search criteria

http://www.dogs4sale.net/search.php?sea ... words=dogs
http://www.dogs4sale.net/search.php?sea ... ds=puppies

Now I know these words are in my forum so I cant figure out why it's not returning any data. Any ideas? I understand there are STOP words which are used by PHPBB however I know these words are not included. The only mods I have installed are from PHPBBSTYLES. No search mods or anything else that would mess with search.php

Any help?

hmm... Can't seem to get the search on this site to work. Loads up a blank page.

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/search.php?mode=results

Now I am logged in, same result; using FireFox.

Nope..... :(

I looked at my Stoplist file:

<phpbb>\language\lang_english\search_stopwords.txt

and these 2 words are not in my list. Is there another place to look?

Tried an older copy of my database and that didn't work. I also grabbed a new copy of search.php and that also didn't work.

So obviously this is not a problem with an easy fix.

Is there a location I can goto in order to post a bug against PHPBB on this?

it is not a bug, if you try it here, you will see that the word puppies returns things on this site. so it does work.

I don't know what it could be, check with your host to see if they have "mod security" installed and tell them what words are doing this. maybe it is that, but I don't know.

I'm having the same problem. I search for the word "advertising" and get no results. The word is on my site a gazillion times. It is not in the stopword list.

I did recently restore my database. I'm running 2.0.19

No mods that affect the search.php

Uploaded search.php again, problem persists.

Interesting. I noticed the problem when I did an upgrade to 2.0.19. Perhaps the upgrade script is causing the problem. I'll look to see if I have an image of my server prior to the upgrade.

I'm hosting the site on my own site and I have no security mods or other restrictions on the site.

It's a vanilla site with easymods and extreme styles installed.
