Admin CP issue

Post by Skylabz0rz » Sat Feb 18, 2006 2:17 am

Hello.

I am running the latest version after I upgraded from .7 (at first I did the changed files only, then did the full install). I did backup my old DB before, and after some SQL tweaking I got everything back (thank god). However, I cannot log into the Admin CP. Seeing I lost all my mods, started fresh, most of the SQL changes in the backup were removing the mod settings, which I did and finally worked.

When I click the link, it redirects to the main index page.

http://mimxra.com/mimxbb/admin/index.ph ... 70c27d074b

That is the link.

I can post messages, log out, log in, etc. Any ideas why it would be redirecting to the main page?

Thanks!

Hi,

Suggestion: www - use it, then you won't get log-in issue with some of your members.

When you accesss the Admin CP (for a few version now) you are required to re-authenticate yourself.
This is a security enhancement to the forum that overcomes some hacks that were in use on/against older forum installs..

As a progress note.

I installed the toolkit. Reset the cookie. I even make a new user with admin rights, same thing. I log in, click the cp link, and bam right back to the form index. I even try going to the cp by hand, and it redirects.

Is one of the files redirecting wrong? What file would be re-directing after clicking on the cp link?

I wanted to post a new topic on that subject, but I found this one - non-resolved as I can see.
Have exactly the same prob, just changed the domain name and hosting, exported the database and installed the phpBB on the new space. Now, I can post, edit and delete the messages (the right admin thing), but I cannot connect to the Admin CP. Just like for Skylabz0rz, it returns back to the Index page.

Anyone has any idea where's the problem?

In the Admin Toolkit I did a security check, and it showed up as version .13 even though i have .19 installed. I did a full uninstall and full install of the latest version and restored the DB. The only files i copied over where overall header and overall footer.

that means that you probably didn't finish the process. you restored your old database over your new one and therefore , you need to update the database.

upload the install folder from the phpbb zip file, then in your browser, go to:
yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install/update_to_latest.php

then delete the install folder.

then do this:
First , get this:
Auto Cookies MOD
then, unzip it to your computer,

then upload the included install folder, to your phpbb folder on the server.,

then , in your browser, go to:
yourdomain.com/yourphpbbb/install/cookie.php

then click the button to accept the settings it finds.

then delete the install folder.

Then you and all your members MUST do the cookie dance:

step 1. log out
step 2. clear your browser cookie
step 3. clear your browser cache/temporary internet files
step 4. close your browser
step 5. go back and test
step 6. hold one foot in the air and spin around three times
singing "Do the Cookie Dance, yeah, yeah, yeah."

done.
I'm baaaaaccckkkk. still doing work on donation basis. PM your needs.

are we talking about not being able to get into the admin panel?

if so, then first, run the cookie MOD again and post the settings here.
