moving member accounts, posts,catagories

moving member accounts, posts,catagories

hey people.

had some probs with the old forum so i decided to create a new one and delete the old one, but i need to keep all the member login details ,catagories and posts.
Could someone please tell me what files i will need to either edit or move over to the new installation and database.

all of that info is held in the database.

if I understand your situation correctly then this will fix you right up;

copy your old config.php file from your old board over to your new board,

then, upload the install folder from the new zip file you got from here.

then in your browser, go to;

yourdomain.com/yournewphpbb/install/update_to_latest.php

then delete the install folder and you will be done.

the new forum is on a totaly new database with phpbb2 does this matter?

if u use a different database yes.

you would have to BACKUP from your old one

then restore from your new

so i jsut use the restore database option in the forum control pannel?

If it works. Ive never gotten it to work on mine, but when even we upgraded from 1.0.whatever to 2.0.1 our database was too large for that to work. If yours is small it might work ok

ok what ive done is created a new forum on a new database and i want to have all the users accounts and all posts that are on the forum on the new forum how, do i do this?
