Im Really thick please help!

Post by soccernights »

Hi,

I have a website and used Dreamweaver to build it, im very new to website design etc and dont understand alot of the technical jargon.

I have downloaded the phpbb and saved it to a file

i've read the installation guide but im still lost. I want to add a Forum keeping in style with my website can anyone simplify this for me?

Or is it not compatable with Dreamweaver as I can't any posts on this?

Hi

Read the Userguide

Do you have a host?
Create a database through your host control panel and then upload the forum files and run the install file in your browser.

Check out The Knowledge Base Styles Section to look at making your forum more your own style.
To edit styles and files, dont use Dreamweaver.
Use a text editor such as Notepad, Wordpad, Notepad++ or Araneae.
Dreamweaver may corrupt your files.
Please refrain from PM'ing me for support unless I specifically ask you to.......

Hi,

I would not recommend you use Dreamweaver to open/edit etc any of the phpBB files.
Use a plain text editor like EditPlus2 or notepad++ .

Have a read of This and the related links within.

You could also check the Knowledge Base for Dreamweaver..
What you need to do to be able to use it with the php and tpl files..

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Yes, and make sure to make a note of the username and password for the database, and the details of the database server as you will need them to run the install.

Have a look through the Installation Guide before installing to confirm everything in your mind..
Check the User Guide once you have installed..

Good Luck,

Correct.

Lastly, once you have uploaded everything, follow the CHMOD instructions, you can do this in your FTP program and then open your browser.
Go to http://www.myforum.com/forumdirectory/i ... nstall.php
and complete the installation instructions.
