Forum logo

Post by JackMicro » Thu May 04, 2006 7:58 pm

I've just installed the forum, and still have the "phpBB" picture at the top left corner. How do I change it to one of my pictures?

Open root/templates/your template/overall_header.tpl
Find:
<tr>
<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
<td align="center" width="100%" valign="middle"><span class="maintitle">{SITENAME}</span><br /><span class="gen">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<br />&nbsp; </span>
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="0">
<tr>

- To change the extension, filename, or path of the logo, edit the text in green
- To change where the logo hyperlink goes, edit the text in red. Replace with http://www.yoursite.com. You may also wish to change the alternative text (orange) to reflect the new location. (ex. 'Portal', 'Home', etc.)
- To change the logo, just overwrite the {root}/templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif file with your own

You have FTP access, right? The root folder is the main phpBB folder (the one with config.php).

Ok, thx. How do I open the over_header.tpl file?

EDIT: When I dubble-click the file in the FTP program a page pops up and you can read:

Download it and use a plain text editor such as Wordpad to edit it.

1. Download it to your computer
2. Using a text editor (like url=http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm]NotePad++[/url]), makes the edits.
3. Upload it and test
John (A cranky old man. "Looking for an echo ...")
using any control-panel install/update is like shooting yourself in the foot. It won't kill you, but you're really going to hobble around until it heals.
Using the wrong tools (Front Page, DreamWeaver) gives the same results

That's the overall_footer.tpl (ie the bottom of the page). You need the overall_header.tpl.

Yes, I noticed that :)

I've done what you suggested. Downloaded it and opend it with notepad, maked the changes, and then uploaded it again. But the result was that the old picture dissapeard and the text: "forum.banana.se Forum Index" replaced it. Instead of the picture which is located at "phpBB2/images/bananaloga.jpg".

The path should be "images/bananaloga.jpg", not "phpBB2/images/bananaloga.jpg". If that still doesn't work, please post exactly what you replaced the code with.

Assuming that the image is actually in that folder, that should work fine. Note that there are two 'images' folders. You are saying it is in the first one, not the one in the templates folder.

I've fixed it, it was a typing-error :D

Thx for your help, though.
