Account activation

Post by Jerry_102 » Sat May 06, 2006 2:08 pm

I have a problem with account activation, where if I set Enable account activation to Admin, I receive an email but if I set it to User, the user does not receive an email. The same thing happens when the user selects under 13, they do not receive the email. It also happens when your watching a topic and you post a new topic, no email goes even if your the Admin.

Have you tried contacting them to ask if the PHP Mail function is working correctly?

:? you have turned account activation to admin so we can not test to see if we get emails on registration. Check with the users in question who didnt get email to make sure the emails did not go into a junk folder!

Yes via email, but have not responded back to me as yet.

Why does the Admin option work and the user does not? Both emails go through the same host.

No I haven't. Since both emails I'm using for testing go throuhg the same host, I don't understand why the Admin option works but the User does not, so I don't understand why going to SMTP would change anything.

as the admin email account is probably an email account on the same host as the mail server......so it would be sending internally. It seems to be failing to send externally. smtp should route all email through another server and therefore should work assuming you do not use the smtp of your host! However this sounds like a bad configuration on the servers side.

Thanks...Guess I'll try it for testing and wait on the response from the host.
