Confirmation Code Will Not Display

Post by Smeep »

Ok, I've run the cookie settings tester, this did not fix the problem.
I also tried getting a fresh copy of the user register file, and uploaded that, this also did not work.

Your phpBB board URL: http://www.paint-zone.co.uk/forum
Template(s) used: subSilver, renamed PaintZone and colours changed,
Any and all MODs: Store Mod, Cash Mod, Spelling Cow was on there too.
Do you use a port of phpBB: Er... I use the phpBB from the site.
Version of phpBB: 2.0.21
Version of PHP: 4
Which database server and version: MySQL (Not sure what version)
Host: f2s
Did someone install this for you/who: no
Is this an upgrade/from what to what: 2.0.20 to 2.0.21
Is this a conversion/from what to what: no
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: Confirmation, Confirmation Code, Register, Code, verification image
State the nature of your problem: The confirmation code does not display, so users can not register. In Firefox it just is not there, in IE it shows a red X.
Do you have a test account for us: If one is needed, I will create one.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '}' in /web/sites/61/smeepster/www.paint-zone.co.uk/forum/includes/usercp_confirm.php on line 152

Your usercp_confirm.php file has a bad edit in it.

How did you get that error?

Also, is this file likely to be modified by the mods that I Have installed? If not then I can just upload a fresh 'un :D

Thank you so much for the reply.

I got that error by putting the URL of the image in by itself in the browser, so it wasn't treated like an image. When you view the "whole page", the confirmation image has an <img> tag around it, so the browser will simply not show it if it is bad. Putting the URL in the navigation bar treats it as whatever the server says it is - text, in this case, with the error message.

Whether or not usercp_confirm.php has been modified by one of your MODs is impossible for me to tell, but, yes, uploading a fresh copy from the install archive should take care of the problem.

Ok, thanks for the tip on how to debug images on the forum! hehe, I'll try uploading a fresh copy and see if anything breaks. I can just download the mods and change the file again anyway.
