I have downloaded the toolkit.php and it says this is only compatible with MySQL databases. Does anyone know how to delete a ton of spam users with out the toolkit???

Does anyone know of a phpBB distribution that is prepatched with some of the Spam prevention tools? I am running an unpatched phpBB 2 and being a lazy baztard I want to be able to easily load up the latest phpBB once the Spammers have figured how to break into the latest release...

None have broken the RAC MOD since it was introduced. The key feature is that you customise it with your own question, so it is impossible for them to automatically answer it without analyzing every single board they want to SPAM.

Hello.

I was having bot registration until I install the RAC mod who still works well. But now, I am having spam with online casino links in the only section where guests can post. I want to keep it opened to guest for people who might have activation or connection problems.

For guest posts, I already installed the Captcha for guest posts, and yesterday night, I added the MOD with the Yes/No drop-down menu, and bots still overpass them, I had new spam posts with online casino links today.

I am looking for a MOD who's more effective than the two ones I installed for guest posts. I don't want to have to ban IPs continuously or even ban entire IP ranges since my board is international.

Version : 2.0.23, updated manually because I already have installed several MODs.

seems to do pretty much the same thing that the RAC mod does...only for guest posting instead of registering.

Heres a good strategy to stop spammers and bots. Spammers and bots mostly come to your forum to advertise. So just simply put the link that they are trying to advertise in the word filters. This way their advertising will be unsuccessful and they will leave your forum.

sorry, but that is just wishful thinking.

the spammers are mostly bots.

they never see your site, they have no idea if their registrations was successful,

they simply run a script against your database and move on to the next one.

Thanks a lot ! That's what I was looking for : a MOD who looks much like RAC !
I didn't see it earlier because the link wasn't on the first post, so I only saw the old version with the drop-down menu.
I have just finished to modify my files and to up them on my forum.

I've been having tons of problems with SPAM - Bots and Humans (prescr meds, porn, etc....).
I was fixing my website with your recommendations (User Activation) above when a guest got on my website, got into my adm panel somehow and made me inactive. I'm the adm. Any suggestions?

Suggestions for what? To stop all spam, install the Security Question OR RAC MOD.

There is no way a Guest can get into the ACP. Install the Starfoxtj Toolkit. With this, you can make your account active AND check to see who has admin privileges that you don't know about, because someone does.

Has anyone create database of spamed web sites? would one be useful?

If there was a spamed wae sites database it could be used to remove or not allow these links.

Is there a script to harvest spam. We could create some dummy forums whose only funtion is too harvest spam boted urls

Not necessary. If you read this topic, you will see that there are already simple ways to stop 100% of spambot registrations. So if they can't register, they can't link. That simple.

I have just installed Admin Toolkit - no problems!

But when I run it - it won´t work. After any instruction to the toll I come back to the "Enter Password" screen. After entering the password I am back where I started without any action being done.

I am sure I do a simple fault - please help me
