How to re-activate all users?

Post by trv »

Hello,

For long i have had a board where no activation was needed.

Now we have about 2000 registered members and it's about time for this policy to change.

What are the exact actions i should take, so as to make all users activate with valid email accounts from start?

How to send an activation email to all users (of course there will be a warning first, so that they enter valid emails those who dont have)?

Thank you :)

That's not what im looking for.. Of course i will set this option to user invitation, that will be for the users that register from that time and on!

I want ALL my users, to receive an activation mail and activate their accounts!

One way to do this is to install the Admin Userlist mod.

It will aloow you to deactivate mass groups of users...they will the recieve an email saying such. (or not if it was a bogus email)

I can manually edit the database and set the activated field in each and every user to 0 insted for 1, so that all accounts will be considered de-activated. But, how the email will be sent to each user?

This mod sents that email for sure? I would prefer to go without mods, there must be a way. [ The board is already packed with mods, dont want to add another ]

Probably the easiest way is to use my admin toolkit if you dont have phpmyadmin installed.

Its not a mod so no changes are made to your board. Just upload the toolkit.php file, run it, and tell it too list all users, then click the "checkall" checkbox, and choose "activate".

If you want to remove the toolkit, just delete the toolkit.php file and its totally gone.

Edit: Wait nevermind I re-read the last line. Currently if you wanted to send out an email you would need to use a mod of some sort.

Or, you could always just send out a mass email via acp.
Admin ToolKit v2.1a - An Admins most helpful tool for user management. Now Supports Mass User Deletion!
Change User's: names, passwords, emails, active status and avatar/pm permissions.
Ban/Unban Users, change Post and Resync Counts, and promote/demote users to admin.
Completely independent from your phpbb user account settings. No installation required, just upload one file.
User Upload ToolKit Beta - A quick and easy, 30 second-install, attachment mod. Now Supports Dynamic Thumbnails!
