Merging boards . members +'ed fine . attempting to add posts

Post by KimberlyTeed.com »

Added members via phpMyAdmin ... all added in just fine ...

Added the following db's via phpMyAdmin ...
 posts ... posts_text ... topics

The post count did show under the topic ...
But, when you opened the topic, only the first page of posts showed ...
And, none of the replies showed under its original message ... all replies were listed as if they were all new messages ...

I'm sure I forgot to do something simple ... any ideas?

Thank you for your time 8)

I'm not sure how you managed to add any topics at all, since the topic/post ids would overlap and cause errors. Or am I missing something?

There is a large topic on merging boards here: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=203648

I went in and added a 400 to all the user & topic IDs ... was a pain in tush ... didn't see the merge php post until after I edited the files ... I'm now afraid to use the merge php with some users now having posts on the new board with their 400+ ids 8O I just gave myself a headache with that, hope you didn't get one too ...

Hmm, well that's an interesting method. If you have backups (and you should), you can try using the merger in that thread in a separate database just to see if it works. May save you some time.

Without seeing exactly what you did, it's a bit difficult to diagnose the problem.

Did you remember to add 400 to first_post_id and last_post_id in the topics table? How about adding 400 to the topic_id in the posts table?

Did you add 400 to poster_id in the posts table and topic_poster in the topics table?

How about your users? Did you also add the group and user_group tables for each of them?

brf ... I only did part of that ... I'll go fix the rest ... thank ya ...

Was just staring at that merge file, I have four boards, on four different sites ... was just feeling defeated, that seems to be for boards on the same site ...

Will check back and tell you how I did :D

Me again 8)

Okay ... I have users and posts merged in ...
The posts do show all replies ...
So far so good ...

However ...

When you go to the viewforum page all posts made by *side-arm* show the author as *teed213* ... when you click a post, everything is fine ... the actual message shows *side-arm* as the author ...

Sooo ...

I've been peeking in phpMyAdmin trying to find the table that generates the "author" part ... can't find it ... please point me in the right direction ...

Thank you ...
