John (A cranky old man. "Looking for an echo ...")
using any control-panel install/update is like shooting yourself in the foot. It won't kill you, but you're really going to hobble around until it heals.
Using the wrong tools (Front Page, DreamWeaver) gives the same results

I use to get this same error message when posting a Private Message (since today) but the PM is sent anyway.
The last modification I did on my forum is the installation of the MOD called "uploadpic".
I am suspecting that after having tried uploading large pictures rejected by the resizing process, the server memory is not correctly released.
Am I wrong ??

The error means that phpBB is not allowed to send out Email. Most often it's caused by the hosting provider disabling the mail function in php.

I understand your point, that means in my case that the Private Message is sent but not the email notification then ??

Excatly, you could try to set up a SMTP connection, or installing the no-email mod.

good tip. First I check with my provider why it has been disabled. If it cannot be restored, then, I will install the MOD you advised
