Moved Forum - Posts Not Showing / Dissappearing

Post by Techit »

Alright there,

I have just moved my forum to a new server... Imported the database from my old server to the new one.

Changed the server settings on the forum to point to the new server, but the only problem now is that some users say that new posts are not showing up on the forum, and other users including myself have the problem that new posts do not dissappear after reading the post, untill they log out and log in again.

The old server was www.swiftowners.co.uk
the new server is http://http://82.110.105.76/swiftowners.org/

Ive tried changing the cookies but i dont know if thats the problem or not... im really :S

Cheers

are you waiting for your domain name to transfer?

if so, then wait until it does, then make sure you have the correct settings for the domain name in your admin panel.

You could put in a re-direct from the old site to the new one so that posts are on the new location. You would have to also change the Domain name on the new location configuration to the sites IP.
When the domain resolves to the new location just revert the IP to the Domain name.

In practice it should resolve within about 48 hours but I have known it take longer with some ISP's (my own included)

Ive figured it out now, was the cookies.

Had to change it to this for future referance to other people who have the same problem:

Cookie domain: 82.110.105.76
Cookie name: phpBB2_forum (gave it something different to before)
Cookie path: /swiftowners.org
Cookie secure: Disabled
Session length: 3600

Just what I said. Use a redirect from the old site to the new one for a couple of days.

none of the settings and/or advice you get from here will work properly on a NUKE site.

if you follow any advice you get here, it could very will break your board.

the version of phpbb that NUKE uses is not the same one that you get from here.

you need to go to a NUKE support site for help with your NUKE installation.

luck,
robert
