"Smart" Forum Spam

Post by Dave Bean »

This morning I was notified of the following post by the notify on all posts mod:
Hello all!
This is my first time on this site.
I would like to tell what I really like this project "Education and Training".
I've been reading it for a while, and I have learned so much here.
So, I decided to try my luck asking a few questions...
How can you IM, PM or whatever you call it to certain members? .
I'd like to ask more questions about "Education and Training".
By the way, nice domain name coloradobusinessonline.com.

I've bolded the items customized to my forum. This message made it through the registration hash mod, email verification and visual confirmation. It's is becoming somewhat more difficult to quickly tell real posts from spam.

I'm waiting to install the Approval Group Mod which should help, but "smart" spam may make even this difficult

I saw on the CNN website that 9 out of 10 emails are spam, spam posts to my forums are at least that:

Is there a question here? Please note that this forum is for phpBB support, not general notices to the public.

I'm going to close this to prevent another huge spam thread from forming, we already have 3:
