hey

i tried reinstalling some fresh files on my forum and it all went to hell.

really need some help.

I think you've overwritten your config.php file.

If you don't have a backup version of it, follow this

What "fresh files"? Is this a version upgrade? Have you filled in the requested info regarding database name, etc. and submitted it? Looks like you haven't completed the installation.

i think i overwrote the database ....the forum was installed and up for over 2 yrs. before i resort to an old backup i'll try the instructions to recover latest version of the db.

The database and the forum files are completely separate. Unless you went into the database and physically dropped it, the db will be fine.

i had some mods installed and it was making updating difficult for me, so i decided to remove the mods by installing fresh files and then re-adding the smaller mods i wanted to keep.

Yeah but you've done all that in the forum folder, not the database. your posts and users will pop up as soon as you get the info in the config.php file right.

Some hosts will help you by restoring your files and database. Maybe they have a copy you could use.
