Styles not auto-detecting?

Post by jammin1911 » Tue Jan 16, 2007 5:17 am

I may be doing something wrong, but this seems pretty straight forward!

I've tried with two different styles now "terayon2" and "redsilver".

When I extract the .zip to my /templates/ directory (the .zip automatically extracts to a folder called 'terayon2' or 'redsilver' respectively) and then click "Add" in the Styles Admin, the list is absolutely empty.

The styles do however appear in the drop downs under the "Export" and "Create" pages of the admin, so it does see them.. it's just not auto-detecting them for whatever reason so that I can "install" them properly.

any tips on this would be greatly appreciated, I'm sure it's something silly

i tried chmod 777 on the both style folders but it didnt help.

thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for the link.

However, I just confirmed that I followed those steps correctly.

Like I mentioned above, the presence of the style is detected in a few locations within the config, i can "create" a new theme and use that as my "template", and it seems to work.

If i leave all of those fields blank in the "create" and just submit it, the theme "sort of" works, it's a disaster because of no style sheet and no color choices but it definitely slightly resembles the colors of what it is supposed to look like.

Anyhow, here are some screenshots to hopefully better explain the situation.

As you can see here, the styles are uploaded to the proper location with the proper naming of the directory.

this pic shows the empty "add styles" list.

this pic shows that some drop downs do have these two styles added, so it is detecting their presence somewhat.

also, I am running the latest version of phpBB.

any tips are greatly appreciated.

thanks !!

If anyone has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated. I'm really stumped here and I'm pretty darn sure this is phpBB's fault -- no??

your first problem is unzipping on the server, this often causes problems.

you should always unzip to your computer, then upload the actual files/folders using ftp.

the main problem is that the style name is not terayon2, it is Terayon2

it is not redsilver it is: RedSilver

it is all case sensitive and when you uploaded /unzipped the files, it changed the file names to lowercase.

change the folder names back to what I showed you. and also inside each style is a css and a cfg file. Those two have to have the correct case in their names as well.

Once you do this, they will show up in the Add list.
