Disabling User Registration

Post by undoIT » Sun Feb 25, 2007 6:47 pm

I'd like to disable new registrations with a simple hack. It seems that the URL for the registration page is called with U_REGISTER.

I'd like to change this URL to an HTML page I'm going to create informing that there is no new registration. Can somebody point me to the file where U_REGISTER is defined?

Thanks!

I got a simpler hack. In the ACP, Disallow (not Ban) the username "*" (without quotes). Easier to undo, too.

U_REGISTER is defined in includes/page_header.php.

There is also a mod that will disable registrations over at phpbbhacks.com

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Easier undo, that's what life is all about :D

I didn't think to check in the Disallow names section because I didn't know there is a wildcard option. Thanks for the quick reply.
