What is a "hidden" user?

I don't see anywhere which tells what this is -

In total there are 275 users online :: 22 Registered, 1 Hidden and 252 Guests

Registered and guests are obvious enough, but what's hidden?

someone who has the setting in thier UCP to hide thier being seen in the list of active members (sometimes called invisable).

When like that admins can still see them - BUT - in italics - in the list of active members at the bottom of the index page.

Someone has checked the box to be hidden while online.

As admin, you will see the username, regular users will not see the name

A user who has specified to keep him/her self private from the 'whos online' area. Mods and Admins can see the user.

No, it's just an option to be visible or not.

Say you're an admin of a help forum and people bug you with PMs every time they spot you online, that would be a good one to be hidden on.
