Help with bogus registration attempts

Post by freephone » Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:28 am

I am running version 2.0.13 and every day we get several automated bogus attempts to register on the forum. Can we prevent this from happening?

Get the humanizer mod. I installed it a few days ago and haven't had a single problem with fake registrations since and I was getting them hourly.

Before applying antispambot MODs you should upgrade. You are 9 versions out of date and easily hackable. Once you are up to date chack out the ReadMe Before Posting thread for links to anti-spam measures.

This http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=479414 is the "Read me before posting sticky"!

It contains links to anti spam topics and specifically requests that all anti spam posts should go into the existing topics.

As such this is locked

you should do upgrading first. upgraded forum has its own things to slow down spam but mostly for security reasons.
