What file contains the phpBB Logo

Post by ExTiff »

I inherited this phpBB Forum and recently updated it from 2.0.10 to 2.0.22.
The phpBB Logo in the 2.0.10 version had been replaced and this replaced version is also in the 2.0.22 version. That's good.

This logo has a url associated with it and I want to know what file it is in so as I can modify it. Note that I want to modify the url not the logo. Possibly in the same file holds the site name. I want to modify that too.

I have studied various files and I cannot find out where these enties are.

Thanks,
Norman

templates/xxx/overall_header.tpl

Code: Select all

<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
{U_INDEX} is the link

Thanks for your quick response.

I found that earlier, namely, U_INDEX. Somewhere there must be a file that defines U_INDEX, that is U_INDEX equals http://www.xyz.com or abc.htm. That is what I cannot find.

Thanks,
Norman

As was said, edit the U_INDEX to http://www.whatever.

Backup all files before making these changes

Open phpbb_root/templates/your template/overall_header.tpl

Find:
<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
<td align="center" width="100%" valign="middle"><span class="maintitle">{SITENAME}</span><br /><span class="gen">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<br />&nbsp; </span>
  • To change the extension, filename, or path of the logo, edit the text in green
  • To change where the logo hyper link goes, edit the text in red. Replace with http://www.yoursite.com. You may also wish to change the alternative text (orange) to reflect the new location. (ex. 'Portal', 'Home', etc.)
  • You can also just overwrite file phpbb_root/templates/subSilver/images/logo_phpBB.gif with your own. For this method to work though the logo must be the same size and file type.

OK and thanks.

I thought that U_INDEX was defined elswhere and then substituted into overall_header.tpl.
Now I have it :)

It made sense what you said "I thought that U_INDEX was defined elswhere and then substituted into overall_header.tpl." so I looked for it. Did a search using windows Find.

InphpBB2 2.0.22 it is set in
<includes/page_header.php> and <admin/page_header.php> in phpBB2 2.0.22
and is used in 24 files

line 385 | 'U_INDEX' => append_sid('index.'.$phpEx),

I did find the file that you have mentioned. From memory I believe that $phpEx ensures that you have the correct extention to the index file, that is, index.php or php3, for example.

That is probably why that when clicked on the logo (before I made the change to U_INDEX) effectively refreshed the page.

I now have the logo acting as a link that takes the user back to the parent website home page.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
