why would you want to do this?

topics and posts are not the same thing.

this will probably confuse your users a lot.

thanks asinshesq will check that file out.

rvmomma you are exactly right they are not the same and thats what is confusing my users hence the change from topic to post. In my forum users post messages and not topics. the word topic because of the nature of my forum confuses them hence New Post as opposed to New topic is more apt.

thanks guys

it is of course , your board to do with as you please.

however, it seems to me that if you rename topic to post, it would be very confusing.

you can' not create a post until you have a topic, then, whenever you are inside the topic, you create posts and replies. not new topics.

I can't even get my head around why you think this will be helpful at all.

good luck,

I am not using PhpBB board the way you think. First of all there are no topics to publicly reply to in the public forum. In other words there is no ADD REPLY ICON. All you have are people posting messages and then others replying in private via PM.

So when my users see the icon New Topic, when all they want to do is post a message (not to any exisiting topic) which is all what they do, it is confusing hence the icon changed to New Post cause all my users will ever do is setup a new post

Check it out man and join :-)

Check out the site :-) www.yougotlovemail.com

very interesting concept there. also, very nicely done web site.

I see what you are doing here.

However, if you are viewing the forum , and you click on the new topic button, you are creating a new topic, not just a new post in an existing topic.

so, now that you have changed the new topic button to the new post button.
people will be starting a new topic thinking they are posting in an existing topic.

see how confusing this is?

and this doesn't even mention the reply part of it.

oh well, this is not the place for this discussion.
good luck to you. I like the site and the idea.
