when entering the admin piece, the left column is blank

Post by pzbqg6 » Wed May 23, 2007 1:33 am

I just moved my site to a new a server(copied all files to new server, loaded the db too). The board functions as expected, except now when I go into the admin panel, the entire left pane is blank. Any ideas here guys?

You'll have to look at the server error logs - it is quite likely that your host has blocked certain PHP functions that are needed to populate the left hand menu of the admin panel. Specifically, phpBB uses the "opendir" function group to read what admin programs are installed, and that is one of the first commands cautious hosts disable.

This can also be due to a MOD incompatible with PHP 5. What PHP version is your new host running?

Is this in the php.ini file? Do you know the text associated with this?

Thanks.

http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.s ... en-basedir will put you on the page that describes the PHP settings.

The logs will normally say something about "open_basedir restrictions in effect" or similar, if this is the problem.

For those just finding this after a search.. Double check you have PAB file downloader mod installed.. If you have, remove the admin files.. I've had NO END of trouble with these!

there was a major security problem with that MOD. I think it has been fixed, however, I don't know if the incompatibility with php5 has been fixed.
