Transferring a forum

Post by wildcatforums » Sat Nov 03, 2007 2:28 am

I currently have a phpbb2 forum, filled with MODs. I would like to transfer all my members over to a new forum, but not have any mods. I need just the members info, so I can start a fresh forum due to MOD errors and stuff on my old forum. Is it possible to do this?

Just replace the files. The Users info is intertwined in the database with several tables. It's not easy to just take the users.

That will remove the Mod code, and it will be ignored in the database and you can keep your forum. Here's a way to do just that:

1) Backup your current phpBB folder, just in case.
2) Download a fresh copy of the 2.0.22 full package
3) Unzip the files into a folder (let's call it FolderA)
4) From FolderA, delete the contrib folder and the config.php file
5) Upload the contents of folder A to your server (overwriting the previous copies of the files)
6) Run install/update_to_latest.php by navigating to "http://{your_domain}/{root_path}/install/update_to_latest.php" using your browser
7) Delete the install folder
