[Help Me] - Tranfering a Board to another Domain

Post by Vyrosian » Wed Jan 16, 2008 6:42 pm

Can anyone point me in the right direction to finding instructions on how to transfer a phpBB 2.0.x board to another domain?

Any help is much appreciated.

Knowledge Base - How to move a phpBB 2.0.x board to a new server
I have the same problem, but am not technically astute, at ALL, when it comes to messin' with root files. I'm in deep yogurt....

I paid to get my website moved to an upgraded platform on the same host and the technician "mover" got my main website moved, including my phpBB forums. BUT, the forums that mover technician has in place now has lots of headers and just a few posts, but almost all of my thousands of threads are gone! This is VERY bad because almost ALL of the threads were very technical high performance automobile info and pictures! Heck, I could have screwed up the move like this myself, for FREE!

In any event, I have located the old files for my phpBB, on the old server, in fact I'm looking at them in phpMyAdmin right now! All I need right now is just some help making sure that I get a total and complete backup, downloaded to my own computer, so this "technician" doesn't lose all my irreplaceable files.

ANY help is really appreciated guys... Thanks a million in advance!!!

Sonny

So use the information in that article to do a complete backup from phpMyAdmin.

Thanks for the reply ric! I do have a couple questions, to make sure I get a complete backup, instead of an "insert". Lessee... I'm gonna "select All", Next, under "structure" I'm gonna check ALL of the boxes? Under "Data", should I check the "Complete Inserts" & "Extended Inserts" boxes, or which boxes to get a complete backup? Also in "Data", should "Export Type" be "Replace"? Next, file name should be, what my ddatabase is named, correct? I'm gonna go non-compressed. Thanks a million in advance, AGAIN!

You can name the file whatever you wish. Should have an .sql extension though.
