Post by garygoy »

After successful installation of a new copy of phpBB 2.0.4

It says Your admin username has been created .... and ther is a button

Once I click on the "Finish Installation" button, the following message displayed

Try checking functions.php. Search for message_die and see if that message comes up. If it does, delete it and refresh your page.

Hope that helps :D

Did you make sure that you deleted the whole message? I had this problem and there were a couple of "message_die" in the document.

The error Call to undefined function: message_die() means that I have deleted the whole function...and the only one is also not there already leh

It looks like you have a call to message_die() in the common.php file, go back and check the functions.php for all instances of message_die() and make sure you got them all, then go into common.php line 186 and look at how it is calling it, hopefully this will give you a clue how to replace or modify the file.

Hi Phylus

I have put back the message_die() function

And I found the line in commons.php that calls message_die() saying I have to delete Install & Contrib folder.

After deleted the 2 folders the following message appears

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not open subSilver template config file

DEBUG MODE

Line : 288
File : /home/ph200co/public_html/phpbb2/includes/functions.php

I had a similar problem before removing those two folders, but the one you have now is new to me. Make sure that your templates directory is still there, and make sure you have the proper template defined in you configuration files.

If you can go in and read what line 288 says, please do so and print it here, might give me more headway on what it is doing.

Hi Phylis,

Thanks for your help. I have solved the problem.

Remember the error say subSilver config file

the letter S is cap ... I realise that unix is case sensitive. So I change the file name in my folder from subsilver.cfg to subSilver.cfg .... and guest what .... Magic.... everything is ok now.

Thanks

Gary Goy

Glad you are back up and running...sometimes the simplest of answers, especially when it is with case sensitivity seems to evade a lot of people...

Hmmm, that's odd.
I still have that problem and i checked the subSilver.cfg file and it's okay.
But i'm still getting that error.
When someone tries to post, that error comes up but when clicking on the refresh button of the browser, the message is posted.
I also get this message with the album mod.

what to do?
