your members will hate you, but here goes anyway;

Code: Select all

Open: includes/usercp_register.php

Around line 1056 find:
Code:
		'NOTIFY_REPLY_YES' => ( $notifyreply ) ? 'checked="checked"' : '',
		'NOTIFY_REPLY_NO' => ( !$notifyreply ) ? 'checked="checked"' : '',

change to:
Code:
		'NOTIFY_REPLY_YES' => ( !$notifyreply ) ? 'checked="checked"' : '',
		'NOTIFY_REPLY_NO' => ( $notifyreply ) ? 'checked="checked"' : '',
I'm baaaaaccckkkk. still doing work on donation basis. PM your needs.

Thanks so much!

lol

if they dont want to be notified of replies, they can always change it in their profile or uncheck it while posting :P

true, but it would certainly aggravate me. the standard ( and in many cases , legally ) is that people have to opt in for emails, not opt out.

luck,
robert

So isn't the reverse also true then?
If they want it they can choose it themselves.

yeah..true

but in this forum, "Notify me when a reply is posted" is selected by default.

And most of the people who are members in my forum arent very good with editing their profile so i try and make it easy for them. (I also want them to come back to my forum) :D

Thanks, I did this and it works just fine. However, now I can not change my preferences for email notification in my ucer control panel. I can change it in the admin control panel, but my user control panel shows the opposite.

do you have any idea why?

all the best,
Joe

Because you did something else to the file when you made that edit. Revert to your backup and try again. After reverting, check to see if it works, as it may have been there before and you just noticed it.

Thanks for your reply. I changed it back to the original and fixed it using a different method.

all the best,
