Re: Upgrade from phpBB 2.0.22 to phpBB 2.0.23

Post by Big Clucker » Tue Feb 19, 2008 6:42 am

I have got a BBcode MOD installed, (in order for me to install the YouTube tags MOD).

And now, (like on other occasions where I have to go and look at coding manually as opposed to using EasyMod), what happens to the MOD(s) I've installed when I go and re-adjust the code in the posting_body.tpl - will they just simply not work now?

Robbing Peter to pay Paul? And at what cost? How do I know which/how many MOD(s) are no longer going to work if I make this adjustment to the posting_body.tpl file?

Confused.

the only changes to the posting_body.tpl file will not affect your bbcode MODs.

you just have to look at the code you have and see if you even need to do the edits at all.

posting_body.tpl will be inside your boards template folder on your server, you will need to download it using your ftp client to edit it

I copied the code changes ZIP file from phpbb as I have 3 mods to my board (MultipleBBCode, YouTube and Textual Confirmation).

I copied the ZIP file into a new folder in forums/admin/mods called 2.023 changes on my server.

I extracted the ZIP file.

Then I went into the EasyMOD section of the Admin panel on my forum and tried installing it with EasyMOD.

During the porcess phase of the EasyMOD install, it came up with a lot of errors and I don't think it installed as I still have the red update message in the main screen of the admin section and the 2.023 changes is still showing up as an uninstalled mod in EasyMOD.

What did I do wrong?

Or can you not install this upgrade with EasyMOD?

Thanks in advance for the help.
Still looking for some help here? Anybody? :?:

you have not finished the update.

as per the instructions, once you have run the file updates, you have to upload the included install folder and run the update_to_latest.php file in your browser.

yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install/update_to_latest.php

then delete the install folder.

Is this SUPPOSED to be a two step process? i.e. take code changes and use easymod, then do the install folder bit?

or will the install folder bit also 'do' the 'easymod' type file?

yes, it is supposed to be a two step process.

easymod does not do the database update, it will only do the file updates.

this has always been the case for updating.

it is a two part process no matter which method of updating that you use.

OK I did that, but I don't think it took. What am I doing wrong? Do I have the install folder in the right place? Is it supposed to go somewhere else?

Here is the error message I received in the browser when I tried to run update_to_latest.php

OK - did that. Works fine now with no error messages. Thanks for the help.

However the upgrade to 2.0.23 still shows up as an unprocessed mod in EasyMOD. Do I need to install the mod again? :?: I already ran it once befor the upgrade_to_latest.php execution in the browser.

You need to ask that at the EasyMOD forum.

I am in the process of updating my board using the code upgrade since I have several heavy modded sites. I tend to use EasyMod. I realize in the update there is something that is probably missing under the changes for "groupcp.php". It has two "FIND" commands (back to back), but shouldn't the second one say "IN-LINE FIND" and then followed with "IN-LINE REPLACE WITH"? Or was there a "REPLACE WITH" code missing from between the two "FIND" commands?

Here is the questionable code:

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------
# Line 913
	$username = $group_moderator['username'];
	$user_id = $group_moderator['user_id'];

	generate_user_info($group_moderator, $board_config['default_dateformat'], $is_moderator, $from, $posts, $joined, $poster_avatar, $profile_img, $profile, $search_img, $search, $pm_img, $pm, $email_img, $email, $www_img, $www, $icq_status_img, $icq_img, $icq, $aim_img, $aim, $msn_img, $msn, $yim_img, $yim);

#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------
# Line 918
	$s_hidden_fields .= '';

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]---------------------------------------------
#
	$s_hidden_fields .= '<input type="hidden" name="sid" value="' . $userdata['session_id'] . '" />';
