RC-3 now available for download

Post by psoTFX »

phpBB Group are pleased to announce the release of the RC-3 "haven't thought of a name" edition of phpBB 2.0. You can find .zip and .tar.gz versions on our project files page @ sourceforge (all hail sourceforge):

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... up_id=7885

Here you can also find updated language and subSilver image packs. PLEASE NOTE that previous language and graphic packs WILL NOT work correctly with RC-3. So, if you're updating from a previous phpBB 2.0 such as RC-1 or RC-2 you MUST download updated language packs as appropriate.

Please MAKE SURE you read the documentation enclosed with phpBB 2.0 (it's surprisingly in the docs/ folder). You can also read the HTML versions of those files online here @

http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/doc ... E_RC3.html
http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/doc ... L_RC3.html
http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/docs/FAQ_RC3.html

If you fail to read these documents and ask something on these forums contained in them you can expect a short, sharp reply :D

This version is getting ever closer to final ... it's not far off. Good luck and enjoy.

quick question: why is CVS's 1.5mb download on /cvs site, and RC-3 only 600k. I am just curious as to what takes up all the extra space in the package?

The snapshot is everything within the CVS phpBB2 module ... all translations, all graphics, all styles. The RC-3 release removes a lot of this, leaving only English and subSilver. Everything else is downloadable separately.

Just a note that a couple of minor issues crept into that release (wrong version name and a few remaining 3 vars being sent to session_pagestart) ... new packages are now in place correcting this. Most people can probably ignore this without any problem at all.

All 404 file not founds :(

EDIT: as you can see, there is a new bug :( For some reason the link is not working when you have no space between the link and the "]" of the quote. It's at least new to me, haven't check bug reports yet...
