Installation Problems (Split from Installation Instructions)

Post by asafs2000 »

Well it seems like its not working real good,
For some reason, includes/db.php got a switch at the begining,
And its not even know that $dbms exists so it just doesn't include the sql_db class so it fails with an error that sql_db is not a declared class ;)

Yeah, about that $dbms. Check for the tell-tale /* */ around the db variables in config.php. That was my problem, at least.

:)

No, you need command line access to your MySQL server.

An uninstantiated sql_db class will result when you don't uncomment the any area's in config.php. Make sure you remove the /* and */ around the appropriate DB section.

You can *try* and set everything up by copying the data from the mysql_schema and mysql_basic files into phpMyAdmin but it'll be time consuming. It might be better to just wait for beta 2 when we have an install script done :)

mySQL

If you have phpmyadmin you don't have to cut&paste, you just type in where you have the schema and content on your HD under 'location of text file' or hit browse. Easy, the default admin password is 'admin', couldn't see that written anywhere? Like the new admin section.

Thanks, didn't notice that ;)
Just copied the variables manually...

Works fine, thanks.

Yeah, a simple cut-and-paste into phpMyAdmin works every time, better for the people like me who get confused by command lines.

I need some more help =)

Post by amoeba »

I am running my server from my own machine and I use phpBB 1.4 just fine.

My question is, how do I 'access the command line' (like which program and how) or how do I do thatthing you guys are talking about with

I don't quite understand that one either.

Any help, anyone?

Hmm... you're running an MSSql query on MySQL. That could be the root of the problem... :p

(Hmm, my computer won't run this Xbox game... what's going on? ;) )

Easily fixed, you're simply running the wrong files. Use mysql_schema and mysql_basic instead of mssql_schema and mssql_basic, and you're on your way.
