The config.php file in your old board's folder contains the information to connect to your database.
Is the database used by that board still present on your web server.
Is the info in that config.php file still correct?

(There is some background information at Knowledge Base - Creating a new config.php )

I don't understand.
Do you mean something changed you config.php file?
Or do you mean that the database password has changed, and you need to update config.php?

(If that really is your password, please remove it from your post now!)

well I created a new board, of course I had to name the directory and then username and password which I use to get into Cuteftp is also my new messageboard password. Then I started getting the critical error everytime I want to enter the old board.

So I dont know if I need to update or replace or change text?

I don't follow what you are trying to say here.

You had a database set up, and a board using that database running.
Did you set up a second database for your "new" board to use?
Or did you use a different "table_prefix" when installing the second board so you could share the one database.

If you just changed the password on your existing database, didn't you think this might affect your original board?

In regards to data bases, tables you mention, I don't know enough of them, I just created a new board and got the error from my old board.
Looks like I did something and not realize it..
Apparently not..So would I just change the password of my old board to the new one with that matches the new board password?

How are you "creating" boards?
Is this some sort of "one-click install" provided by your web host?
If yes, there is a chance that it just discarded your old database when it created the new one.
We really can't say, we only support installs done using the software downloaded from here. If this is something provided by your web host, then you must ask them for support.

Fantastico install is massively broken. OK, significantly broken. It does not use the phpBB installation program at all; it simply writes a blank database out, even through it is missing some configuration items that are created by the regular install. It does not bother to check to see if there is an existing database, and it does not offer you the chance to change the table prefix, so that multiple boards can coexist in the same database.

Hope you have a recent backup...
