I lied!

Post by psoTFX » Wed Sep 26, 2001 10:57 pm

Okay, you may have noticed from recent commits a 'new' feature :) When I said "there are no more surprises" I was lying ... say hello to templateable BBCode ... and say thanks to Nathan while you're at it.

This truly is the last surprise, user-definable BBCode will wait till 2.2.

Whow you guys ROCK, ... btw who can explain poor me what this mean, how can this feature be used ? i can imagine it mean that i can create BBCode relative to only one template .. so i will have one template with support for flash code and some other for Javascript or it is something absolutly else ...

Or this mean i can edit BBCode related to one template so to make Bold for example BOLD & RED ?

It allows you to design the HTML output by the supported BBCode, eg. don't like the way quote is handled? no problem, just alter the bbcode.tpl file and modify the quote entries ...

User definable bbcode (that is the ability for admins to add their own tags) will (should ...) appear in 2.2.

Well some people do not like how quoting is presented, so there is the easy fix. You want bold text using a different font, no problem there. You want your lists to look a little more interesting simply change it.
You want your URLs in another color than your Emailadresses, got it. etc...

That is just an awesome feature! Can even the likes of UBB or vB do such a thing? I especially like the way you can enter the codes using "Alt-" whatever!

Will the spell check be standard when 2.0 goes gold or will we have to hack it in?[/b][/u]

I believe a spellchecker module is going to get integrated, but not sure if it was to be in for the 2.0 or 2.2 release....

Noticed how subBlue is already making more cosmetic tweaks to subSilver.com. Such things as the poll result bars, quotes, etc.

re: the spellchecker ...

Support will be present in the template for the spellchecker. The complication is you have to register to use it ... we'll probably provide details of how to do this with the install.

Instant Messaging

Is someone doing an Instant Messaging system for the phpBB2 as in an intergrated program where the message actually pops up, (nothing to do with the private messages) a little like chat but in a small popup window.
