Post by jakew02 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 3:26 am

Hey everyone

I have run into some problems while trying to convert my NukeEvolution database to a phpBB 2.x database.

If anyone is able to help me, please send me a Private Message so that I can contact you via Aol Instant Messenger, Yahoo IM, MSN, or Google Talk.

Thanks in advance!

To convert Nuke Evolution to phpBB2, use conv_nuke_214a.zip

To convert Nuke Evolution to phpBB3, use PHP-NUKE to phpBB3 Convertor 0.0.5

If you explain the problems you are having, we can probably help you here.

I have tried both of these.

for the NukeEvolution to phpBB 3 converter 0.0.5... I am unsure of where I should install my phpBB 3 directory.. Do i want to do it within the same directory as my NukeEvolution files?

This is how I attempted it:

- public_html/
  - admin
  - blocks
  - includes
  -phpBB3
  - (rest of NukeEvolution files)

When I attempt to run the converter I get this error message ->
Could not find path to your former board. Please check your settings and try again.
» ../public_html/modules/Forums was specified as the source path.
I have my Previous Board Location set to :

../public_html/modules/Forums

I believe the relative path should be ../modules/Forums

ah that was it.

I got through to the next step, where I begin the actual conversion process.

I got an error stating that I had users with the same name ( which was "DELETED", for deactivated accounts ). I removed all of those, and continued with the next step.

When I clicked Continue Conversion on the Conversion in Progress screen, it loads for several seconds and comes up to a blank white screen.

any help on that?

A blank white screen is caused by server timeout. The best solution is to do the conversion offline. Use EasyPHP, WampServer, or XAMPP.

Some helpful tips are in this Knowledge Base article, Offline Conversions

~or~

You can try these tips:
Open phpbb3/install/install_convert.php

Find:

Code: Select all

<?php
/**
*
* @package install
* @version $Id: install_convert.php,v 1.50 2007/07/16 01:06:34 davidmj Exp $
* @copyright (c) 2006 phpBB Group
* @license http://opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php GNU Public License
*
*/

/**
*/
After add:

Code: Select all

@set_time_limit(0);
@ini_set('memory_limit', '256M');
@ini_set('upload_max_filesize', '128M');
@ini_set('post_max_size', '256M');
@ini_set('max_input_time', '-1');
@ini_set('max_execution_time', '-1');
@ini_set('expect.timeout', '-1');
@ini_set('default_socket_timeout', '-1');
(Adjust timeouts and size as needed.)

Next find:

Code: Select all

var $batch_size = 4000;
Change to:

Code: Select all

var $batch_size = 6000;

only had to do the first code edit.

Just one last question...

what tables can I remove from the database now?

I have tables with a nuke_ prefix, ando nes with a phpbb_ prefix.

can i safely remove the nuke_ prefixed tables?

worked great! Thank you!
