SMF to phpBB2 need help please

Post by flame16 » Mon Aug 04, 2008 10:02 pm

I'm not sure if this goes here. Sorry if I posted it in the wrong section.
Well i currently have a forum using smf 1.5. on a free host and server, but i want to move to phpbb or rather forumotion. I know i would have to convert the smf data to phpbb2 but how would i move it to forumotion or anyother free forum host?

maybe you should ask forumotion...

Do be aware, you often get what you pay for with "free" forum hosts.
i.e. they could disappear at any time, and they do NOT allow you to make backups of your board.

thank you for the advice

so do you recommend i buy a new host. My current host is unreliable and has system crashes periodically which i cannot stand much longer. I was thinking about blue hosts but i don't have hundred and sixty six dollars for the upfront fee. anyother places you can suggest? Also how would I make the conversion.

Our no-spam rules prevent any recomendations being made here.
Have a look at http://webhostingtalk.com and http://webhostingjury.com for suggestions.
Many offer no setup fees, and around $5 per month for reasonable hosting.
