Post by Cool Surfer » Sat Aug 23, 2008 7:43 pm

Hi
I am trying to convert ipb235 to phpbb2. I am getting error.
This is what I tried.
Installed wampserver
installed invision forum in sql db abcd
installed phpbb2 forum in sql dv efg
copied ib2phpbb2 folder to root of phpbb2 folder
ran in browser ib2phpbb2 > but when I try to start the conversion it shows a lot of errors and does nothing.

What to do pl.

ok i got it. Important instruction is missing in ib2phpbb

We have to install phpbb2 in the same db as that of ipb

ok......
now i converted successfully.
Copied login.php from login_mod folder to phpbb2 root.
But its still not accepting the user id or pwd.
M db is very big, so uploading to server might take some time. cant use forgot pwd feature as mail server is not configured on my pc.

any way out....
thanks

I think the script is just running and not converting in reality

My invision database is ~900mb, but phpbb2 sql after conversion is just 3mb. :(

Don't use the login.php included with the convertor. It is out-of-date. Use the instructions in login_mod and aply the changes to a phpBB 2.0.23 login.php

The convertor may stall with a large database. The page will usually say Done. There is a way to have the convertor start from where it stalled. It requires looking at the database to see how many rows were done, then changing the start value in whatever file you happen to be doing to the next row after the stall.

That default is for how many rows the convertor will do at a time.

if the convertor should stall in the middle of a conversion, you will need to look at the particular database phpBB table that is now being converted and count the number of rows that have been inserted.
Open the file for editing for the particular step you are on and look for $XXXX_loc = 0;. XXXX will vary depending on the step you are on. If it is one of the posts table, it will be $posts_loc = 0;. If it is the users table, it wil be $users_loc = 0;.
Change the 0 to the number of rows you counted + 1 and rerun that step.
