Yeah, you're right. I would really like to see a converter for 1.2 for several reasons. I switched from phpBB to ib a while ago but I really regret it now. First of all ib isn't free anymore.... and I'm looking forward to the next release of phpbb 2.2. I haven't got a huge community but with 100+ members and almost 6k posts I don't want to start from scratch again...

I was stupid enough to take some convertion actions before I realized that the convertor was too old so I hope we don't have to wait months for the new one.

W/ me I've had alot of DB problems, and alot of the posts in my forums seem to magically disappear when I view the forum, but it says they're there on the main index page. I had to restart 3 of the forums on my board b/c of that.

Here is a link to the thread on the forum of the person who developed it. Perhaps you may find some more information on IPB 1.2 there:

IB2PHPBB should work with IB 1.2 - It has been tested successfully.

If you have error msg, post them in the support thread (here or on entre-aide.org) otherwise I can't do anything...

I have a question tho, do we HAVE to do it on a local server, then upload to a web server?

@dc_freak : it's recommended to do it on a local server - For installing a web server, I think there is an article in the Knowledge database ;)

@Mike Barlow : It depends on how IB Team modified the database. If there is no modification at all in the database, it should work too with IB 1.3

I look arount IB site and I do not found a lot of details for IB 1.3 so I guess that it's just modification of php files and no modification of the database...

So you can try to run the converter and see if it works or not... ;)

That isn't true, IPB is still free. You just need to download the 'free trial' version.

I can confirm that the converter does indeed work with IB 1.3 Final.

It is advised though that you check through your config correcting any mistakes, a straight conversion and expecting everything to be tiketty boo would be a bad move.

I did have however problems with the 'search' option. I tried running the attached file to update the search indexes but I just kept getting a 'connection refused' error - although this could be an issue with the server and will try again later.
