I have successfully used the 3.0 convertor on a 3.5 database with no changes. Try it and see.

Conversion went fine, but unfortunetly i cannot login ? Is there a normal problem? Coz I just read that the password conversion was not included with this conversion.

Can i change the admin password through the database?

No, the passwords are saved as MD5-Hash. You could use a small PHP-script to generate the hash for insert in the db using md5(). But the easiest way is probably the forget-password-function (as written in the readme of the converting-script).

You can do one of Dave's suggestions,
1) Make an MD5 hash of your plain text password and insert it into the database
2) Use the "I forgot my password" feature
~or~
3) Use the login MOD that is included with the convertor to modify login.php which will allow you to login with the vB3 passwords.

No 2) MD5 is a Message Digest algorithm that calculates the hash of a string. For more information, http://us2.php.net/md5 . A tool to create an MD5 has of a password, http://www.redkernel-softwares.com/?md5,tool

No 1) You don't need to be a php programmer. All you need is a text editor, not word processor, and be able to follow instructions.

Just create a file named "foobar.php" with following content:

Code: Select all

<?php
    echo md5("your_password");
?>
Upload the file to your webspace an run it in your browser. Copy the resulting string into your password field in DB (...and don't forget to delete it afterwards, otherwise you may get some unexpected visitors someday ;-) ).
But it would still be easier to use the forget-password function :mrgreen:

I Converter VB Board to BB then I merge them to BB

all going successfully

one problem I had with the BBcode

it like these in my board and SQL

Code: Select all

INSERT INTO `phpbb_posts_text` VALUES (5, '8c43ca00dc', '', ' [color=silver:8c43ca00dc][FONT=Tahoma][size=3:8c43ca00dc][ALIGN=CENTER]\r\nÇáÝ ÇáÝ ÇáÝ ÇáÝ ÇáÝ ãÈÑææææææææææææææææß :)[/ALIGN][/size:8c43ca00dc][/FONT][/color:8c43ca00dc] ');
you can see problem

Code: Select all

[color=silver:8c43ca00dc]

Code: Select all

[ALIGN=CENTER987r9e8][CENTER]
any Idea to fix the deferent between the BBcode system

and size in VB 4 and 3 in BB is 16 and 18

Sorry for my English

phpBB does not support a lot of the BBcodes, like vBulletin does. Your best bet is to install some MODs and they will take care of most of the BBcodes you have.

You can look in the MODs database or use the Search Modifications tool to find them.

Custom BBCodes will do the align code
Font Face BBCode will to the Font type
color font bar will do the font color.

Plus there are other MODs if you search.

I already install The advance BBcode …

But the problem like font size in VB 5 is so big but in BB it is so small ..!!

I have written a script to fix the size tag, Fix size tag
Unzip the file, place it in your phpBB root directory and run it.
Delete the file when done.
