Hi, I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for so I'm posting.
Can I have two languages running on one board? Say like English and Spanish?

Not on the same page, but you can offer multiple languages to choose from. Just add the /lang_[something]/ directory to your /languages/ directory and it will be added to the dropdown list in the Profile page.
It worked

How to set correct global default encoding automatically?

I have installed the language packs. The encoding seems to be correct for the selected language. To view the pages, I have to manually select the encoding from the Internet Explorer (View|Encoding|Select Encoding). The global default encoding (View|Encoding|Auto-Select) always chooses Western European (ISO).
Is there a way to set this on the server side to avoid these extra steps for users?
Thanks in advance !

Hi!
Yes, there is a possibility: in your spanish (or other language) lang_main.php right at the top:
replace it with:
(just an example for hungarian language encoding).
To find out your encoding-number, please use google:

I used the language package supported by phpBB (2.0.4) and I checked the lang_main.php, and it has correct ENCODING set. But the forum still does not automatically display with the correct encoding.
Code: Select all
//setlocale(LC_ALL, "en");
$lang['ENCODING'] = "gb2312";
$lang['DIRECTION'] = "LTR";
$lang['LEFT'] = "LEFT";
$lang['RIGHT'] = "RIGHT";
$lang['DATE_FORMAT'] = "Y-m-d";
Can we do this in the ElForo.de site?

Hello!
My problem is that I have a message board in the ElForo.de site(elforo.de/mywebheaven, it is). And I see that the languages available are
1. Catalan
2. Galego
3. Spanish
These three are ok with me(I understand them), but I wanted to make 'english' appear on the list, too! I know there's a way, since my online friends have forums hosted at the elforo.de site, too, and their forums have 'english' in the list.
What do I have to do for english to appear!(I have tried asking my 'freinds' already, but they say the forums just came like that, with english in the list...

)do I have to install something, is it something I have to do when I sing up for the service, or is that I got my forums at the wrong site?
I really need help with this!!!! Thank you for your time.

Download the phpBB 2.0.4 full package from
here to your computer (if you don't know which one to choose, take the zip one). Unzip it. In the unzipped files you'll find a folder called language, inside there is a folder called lang_english. Upload this folder and its contents to your language folder (it should be elforo.de/mywebheaven/language). That should be enough.
However, I see that forums in elforo.de come prepackaged. In case you can't upload anything, what I explained above won't help you and you'll have to contact your webadmin and he'll probably place that directory with its information for you.

Thanks for your help. And yes, you where quite right, I couldn't upload the package myself, but I contacted the administrator of the elforo.de site, and they'll probably have it installed for me in no time.
Again, thanks for you help!
