i have followed the instructions to the "T" - well except for actually merging both the main databases together but is it because of the file name i have called the target database or something?
Did you reconfigure phpBB so that it connects to the new database? phpBB has to be running in order for the convertor to work. You can edit config.php with your new database settings.

OK, guess something went south, so I will edit my post....

So if I do the conversiona nd continue to use the SMF forum while I makesure all the bugs are worked out of the phpBB one. Can to redo the conversion and have the most recent SMF transferred into phpBB?

I guess what I am trying to ask is;

If I do the conversion, what happens if I redo the conversion? With of course new posts, etc in the SMF forum, Will it work? Does it just merge changes from the two forums together? Or what will happen?

Every time you do a conversion, it is a completely new process. It erases the posts and users in the phpBB2 database before converting. The convertor cannot merge new and old posts in phpBB.

Ok, that works for me. As if I redo the conversion, there will be nothing of importance in the phpbb forum.

However, I seem to be getting another issue. See below.

I am getting this same error
Then you haven't uploaded the files to the correct directories

You unzip the files and upload to the phpBB root directory maintaining the directory structure of the zip file.
The phpBB root directory is where config.php, common.php and extension.inc reside

Code: Select all

phpBB root diretory
 |__convert directory
 | |__convert_smf.php
 | |__functions_convert.php
 | |__index.php
 |__language directory
 | |__lang_english
 | |__lang_convert.php
 |__templates directory
      |__subSilver
           |__admin
                |__convert_body.tpl
I keep getting this error, I have verified the directories and they are all as above. Also I have verified the phpbb root dir, and I continue to get this error.... Any help??

Is phpBB installed and running?
Is the board default and your profile set to use the English language?

The convertor for SMF 1.1.1 will work. It also works for SMF 1.1.3.

I have exactly the same question/problem.

It stucks in step 10 of 24 at 3% with this Error:

Could not process query.

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1062 Duplicate entry '8277' for key 1

Line : 848
File : index.php

How can i solve the problem?

Update:

ok now i run it in Debug Mode from the Beginning and got the Error earlier:

Code: Select all

Could not process query.

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1062 Duplicate entry '5358' for key 1

INSERT INTO phpbb_groups (group_id, group_type, group_name, group_description, group_moderator, group_single_user) VALUES (5357, 1, 'administrator', '', 2, 0), (5358, 1, 'vice administrator', '', 2, 0), (5358, 1, 'vice administrator', '', 2, 0), (5358, 1, 'vice administrator', '', 2, 0), (5359, 1, 'moderator', '', 2, 0), (5360, 1, .....

Line : 848
why is the 5358 ID 3 times listed here???
i have 3 members that have this group, but the group is 1x only listed in the SMF table

OK, got it to work, I misunderstoon one little thing and that was throwing it all off...

OK, now the next step.

My SMF forum is at http://www.zinclan.com/phpBB2/ (- Don't ask why, I didn't start that forum)
My new phpBB2 forum will be located at http://www.forum.zinclan.com (that will be the phpbb root)

What do I put into the converters panel? Both forums are on the same database, same server, everything. I just started a sub-domain to host the new improved forum.

I have this so far

Table prefix - smf_ (right as it is converting FROM that?)
Forum address - http://www.zinclan.com/phpBB2/
Forum path - Stuck here... as "../" would take me up to http://www.zinclan.com, how can I move it to a sub-domain?
