I believe I have the problem with the messed up posts fixed. Click here to download the script, ez_adjust_posts

lepage71,
If you download and run the new script, it will take care of the <i></i> without affecting anything else.

It fixed the EZCode stuff on my particular forum. The only smilies problem that remains is when there are simple smiley codes within the post like :> and :/ ...situations where we actually added smilies to the ezboard ourselves. Ezboard came with a default set of smilies that were hosted on their site and were triggered with the EZBoard smiley code like that one.

To fix the other EZBoard smiley issue, I'll just add those code symbols to phpbb3 and match it with the appropriate smiley that we added and used "back then" on our EZBoard forum.

Dicky, the italics code is gone (yet the Edited by situations are still italicized correctly). I see only two issues remaining:

1. Whenever there is an ezboard signature, the post looks like this in phpbb3:

Post content post content post content post content post content
<p>Poster's signature</p>

or

What day does the Winter Series start?????? <p>Pontiac has won it's last Championship</p>

...there should be a space in between the post and the signature and obviously no <p> there.

2. All "regular posts" (posts without an Edited by or Signature at the bottom) still seem to have an extra space underneath them. In comparison, posts with the Edited by and the (messed up) Signatures do not have this space.

Example for issue #2:

----------------------------
Hey all...overall I think the site has been improved tremendously since early 2002, when all it consisted of was three pages and a poorly constructed rules notepad file.

However...we are seeking to further improve the usefulness of the site and if anyone has any ideas, desires, or demands (grr) for a certain type of page or file...please let me know and post a message below!

One idea I had was to drastically change the Setups page...right now all that are posted are my setups. I think it would be cool to post a ton of setups made by a coalition of all the drivers. I can password the page so that only league members can gain access. It would only work if we got 10+ drivers to participate in actively submitting setups for all the tracks...I hope something like this can be worked out, let me know. thx

Edited by: lepage71 at: 1/9/03 6:45:41 pm
----------------------------

versus

----------------------------
yes i like that.. each driver races different and tweak setups to fit there style.. so after one tweaks a set up it might mak it easier to tweak that one... and the password a yes

----------------------------

After using View Source on IE. it looks like there are one or two extra br codes after the post content. Just remember that the posts with "Edited by" and Signatures at the bottom do not have this issue...Here is the code for the second example:

yes i like that.. each driver races different and tweak setups to fit there style.. so after one tweaks a set up it might mak it easier to tweak that one... <!-- s:) --><img src="./images/smilies/smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> and the password a yes <!-- s:) --><img src="./images/smilies/smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --><br /><br />

Looking around at other "regular posts" in my test forum, I see this <br /><br /> come up again and again.

If you want to look around at what an ezboard looks like and what code is involved in posts, here is a random forum I found: http://p200.ezboard.com/fastrosbaseballfrm57

I believe other than the spacing thing and the messed up signature, everything looks okay on my test forum thus far.

Finally, I actually used the first script you posted and then the second one on top of that. I am going to make another test forum from phpbb2 to phpbb3 and use the updated one that you just posted, to make sure nothing was messed up by running one after the other.

I just did the process all over again and the spacing issue is no longer there. However, the old signatures remain messed up as demonstrated above.

I also noticed one thing: certain links in the PHPBB portion (post-ezboard conversion) are messed up after running the script...longer links seem to shorten so that they no longer work.

I think PHPBB shortens those long links, but they still go to the correct target (as decided by the person who posted the link). But after using the script, the link gets cut off after the "..."

Example:

This link still works fine after the script:
http://nascarheatracingleague.com/setups/setups1.html

This link worked before but not afterwards (it's longer than the example above). Before using the script, this was all one correct link, but afterwards, the portion after "..." is no longer clickable and the link died.
http://nhrl.net/forum%20files/attachmen ... %20v10.zip

Also, here's another example about a messed up signature:

Well I will be 25 on Tuesday the 30th. <p>Tommy

#21 Air Force Ford Team
</p>

The correct signature this particular forum member was using was:

Well I will be 25 on Tuesday the 30th.

Tommy

#21 Air Force Ford Team

No. As I mentioned before, I had only the one sample post to go by. If there are things that need to be fixed, I need to be told about them. I don't have a converted EZboard to go by.
In the code you posted, I see an opening p tag, but no closing p tag. I need to know where that is if there is one.

@lepage71,
Smilies you will have to add. I have no way of knowing which ones are missing.

I will look into the other problems you mentioned.

Oh, sorry; I misunderstood. After using the most recent version of the fix, I still see (a few examples)...
On Pete Townshend's blog, he lists <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>The Royal Tenenbaums</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> as one of his favorite movies, along with some other good ones (though I suspect he has the wrong number of blows). Good ol' Petey.

<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.blogger.com/profile/12822857 ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->
He likes Wilco too. Can't be too bad of a guy, even if he was "researching" child porn... <p>"Well I want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>
another one of his favorites is "fifth element". :vomit

<p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->"When I was a little kid I wanted to know what caused thunder."
</p>
Luc Besson rules! The Fifth Element is definitely not his finest hour, but it's a great silly action comedy. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is that (the hurricane victims ) all want to stay in Texas. Everybody is so overhwlemed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway so this (chuckle)--this is working very well for them."—Barbara Antoinet-- erm... Bush</p>
There is a scene in Mighty Aphrodite where they are in a restaurant with the red zebra print. Wes mentioned he got it from a restaurant same one I guess. <p><!--EZCODE CENTER START--><div style="text-align:center"><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v43/m ... zissou.jpg" style="border:0;"/><!--EZCODE IMAGE END--></div><!--EZCODE CENTER END--></p>
Welcome to the Board, Mr. Handkerchief. But in the words of our founder, Olwiggum:

<!--EZCODE QUOTE START--><blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>If you could make [your signature photo] so that it's about as big as 3 lines of text, that would rock the ass off of the horse...<hr></blockquote><!--EZCODE QUOTE END-->

Does that help? If you want to see the board itself, see posts from 2005 and before at http://www.yankeeracers.org

Upon closer inspection, I also see these other EZCodes, and some other issues, on my phpbb3 test foroum...looks like certain EZCodes were EZBoard's versions of doing things like bold, underlining, italics, and other things...here are more examples. Some might be redundant, but just trying to provide examples. Hope this also helps. Not sure if this is "the" complete list but it has to be close. Cheers :)
What we plan to do is have the top-14 drivers qualify every race. 14 guys will be in <!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">every</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--> race. (If we find that Red's T-1 can fit 16 warp-free, that might be a limit too). So there will be no chance of the field dwindling to a smaller number. And we have set it up so that no driver goes without racing one week.
<!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="http://www.racetotheflag.com/freddyiplog.jpg" style="border:0;"/><!--EZCODE IMAGE END-->
<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2sr5n/">my ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->
I can think of quite a few incidents where a car lost control, for whatever reason, wrecked someone else, and there was no penalty. Most recently was when Verm lost it on the front stretch at Lowe's, he tried to regain control on the grass, and make turn 1, well, he didn't recover, he slid up the track and slammed Freddy. There was nothing I could do. I was not happy, but I understand it happens, it did not make sense to me to complain about an <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>accident</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->, I limped around until I was within my pit window.
The accidents are unavoidable, it's the <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>intentional</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> wrecks that we try to curtail. Some incidents are not easy to cipher out.
<!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>IF</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->, if everyone holds their line at the drop of the green flag, high or low, there is <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>NO</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> reason to make a pass on lap one. And there is <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>ABSOLUTELY NO</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> reason to pass 3-4 cars on lap 1.
And when you think about it, if the same guys are having trouble race after race, I don't think someone <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>else</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> keeps hitting <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>them</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> race after race...they are finding this trouble somehow, and it is not because someone else <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>always</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> does it to them.

!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"Dool"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> (do' ol) doolee, doolor - Used to bleep a drivers name. (ex. Dool has a good race)
<!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"Comp"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> (com' p) comped, comping, comps - Used in place of a expletive. (ex. Who the comped are you)
<!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"73"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> (seventy three) 73'd - Refers to disregard of other drivers. (ex. He was 73'd buy that dool, suching a comping comp)

Hope everyone gets a laugh out of that, lol. Feel free to add to my dictionary. :rollin

Go to <!--EZCODE LINK START--><a href="http://pcpitstop.com" target="top">pcpitstop.com</a><!--EZCODE LINK END-->, create an account, it's free, and run the full set of diagnostics. CAREFULLY study the results, and do as they suggest. Re-run the tests until the results are perfect.

I actually had the writeup done two hours after the race ended. I was waiting for 'post race interviews', but people like <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">Eagle Keeper</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--></strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> said "Later guys" and split in a huff. LOL That's why I put the declined interviews stuff in there EK. :lol I could just do the write up, and then people that want to send post race comments, can send them seperately. but I kinda think it's neat having them in the summary like that.
LOL, I'm working on it. Alot of @#%$ to read through (ie. your short story).

DrakNek's ezconverter states that EZBoard poll data cannot be converted to phpbb. The poll results must be locked on EZBoard's servers or the transfer between EZBoard and phpbb just doesn't work. However, at least on phpbb2 the polls look like phpbb polls (without the actual results of course). On our particular forum, we have those polls locked so no one votes on them. On our test phpbb3 forum, the polls are just a coding mess. Maybe you can take a crack at fixing this so at least we can get back to what they looked like on phpbb2.

During Atlanta practice, I discovered that I was warping badly on the start/finish line, as well as jumping the start thus receiving a black flag. After trying this and that, I found that running my game thru Mod Launcher was causing the warp. I took all of my mod .exe files and moved them to the desktop; warping stopped.
This may work for you, it may not. It did for me. Just passin on some info for yas to try if you have a warping issue.

We have recently converted some 30000 odd posts, about 50MB ezboard, just in same fashion like lepage71 did:

1:: Successful conversion from ezBoard to phpbb2

Content is absolutely fine and matching to what it does, EXACTLY in ezBoard.

BUT.. :)

2:: While converting phpbb2 to phpbb3 RC7 (latest), we have just SAME issue. The phpbb2 - phpbb3 conversion took minimum 3 clear days, non-stop, lastly 2 nights deprived of sleep.

====== We just loudly announced, before hand, once after experimenting successful phpbb2 conversion, and few members must have started boxing, or they must be preparing. It's EZCODE and those html tags everywhere.

Any solution? Anyone can help? And the ez_adjust_post.php link from Dicky's post is also missing. Please help.
