PNphpbb conversion

Post by Kena »

Hi,

I want to make a conversion script for PNphpbb (the postnuke fork). I've tried the knowledge base solution on this forum. But I don't like it because the scrambles the tables. Now here my issue.

When I import the informatie into the fields of the table throught my script everything seems to work fine. There is one issue I can't seem to work out. I get a "There are no posts in this subject" when I go to the next pages.

I tried tot synchronize the forum, but that didn't work. Can anybody help?

Thankx.

I've found the solution. I had to use addslashes to a number of fields.

Can you post the script or the way you done it?

I want to switch from PNphpBB2 to phpBB3, but there is still no info to do that, so i'm thinking to convert to phpBB2 and then use the convertor included in the phpBB3 install.

Regards.

There is no need for a script.. it is so easy to upgrade.
1. Backup all existing files and remove all except for the module folder containing pnphpbb. (I coppied this folder to the root then removed everything else)
2. Delete all tables from your database EXCEPT for the pnphpbb tables.
3. De-nuke your database. Basically all you need to do is remove the nuke_ prefix from each table (or what ever prefix your DB has). So you are left with tables with names like phpbb_posts etc etc etc.
4. Create a new database for a fresh phpbb3 installation
5. Upload a fresh copy of phpbb3 to your root folder
6. Run the install
7. At the end of the install click on the convert tab and run through that.

Once that has finished you should have a fully functional board with all posts and users in tact.

I have done 3 conversions so far.. and about to do my largest site (over 4000 members, 218705 posts ;) )

The only issue I have had is the time format gets screwed.. but thats a easy fix :)

Hi Roomeat,

Followed your migration steps, works great... i think i'm getting the same time format issue as you were where all of my dates are appearing like this

Code: Select all

Posted: %b %13, %2008 - %0
How did you fix this up??

Cheers

Found this but haven't tested it yet myself... From this thread
http://community.zikula.org/module-Foru ... -37829.htm

Code: Select all

UPDATE `phpBB_users` set `user_dateformat`="d M, Y - H:i" WHERE 1

Thanks to everyone who posted here, especially RooMeat. I was able to pull out all the data and attachment from my PNphpBB based Forum into a standard phpBB3 install. Even better, I was able to bridge it to my new Drupal based site so I have a single signon system now.

Only had two issues - one user who had two accounts Hiroboy and hiroboy. Fixed that via phpMyAdmin by changing one of the names. And had the time format bug, which folks posted the fix to...

Thanks again... made my life much easier.
