Conversion from phpBB 3.0.1 to 2.0.23

Post by Alucard232 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 3:04 am

Is it possible to convert phpBB 3.0.1 into 2.0.23? Because, frankly, phpBB2's been around a much longer time, and I want to convert to it. Is there any way to convert from 3.0.1 to 2.0.23?

There are no released scripts to do that.

But support for it is ending at the start of 2009.

If its not necessary use for any particular reasons then use phpBB3, as it'll have good support and future updates relate to it. Depend on your own situation use what best suit you, our suggestion would be phpBB3 :)

This would be a very handy tool to release before you end support. Nuke evo uses phpbb 2.0.23. I only just started using this and I have no way of moving My 3.0.1 Forums to it.

Why on earth would phpBB make a script to help you move to Nuke?

Nuke is created around phpbb.

So then it's up to the Nuke makers to produce conversion scripts to get to it.
How are the phpBB developers supposed to find the time to learn how various board types handle their tables and require the information to be converted such that they can use them?

Much better to make converters to get to what you have, not to get to someone else's board.

One solution may be to get a converter (If the kind people here know of one or are making one id be much appreicated if you could get me a link to it) and convert your PHPBB3 to a seperate PHPBB2 forum, then export all your data into a backup file. Then import that backup file into the phpbb that runs inside of phpnuke.

Not sure if this will work yet, but its what im going to have to do.

Does anyone know of a script that will revert from back phpbb 3 to phpbb2?

I have heard of someone that did manage to convert phpbB3 to phpBB2, but I never saw a script released for it.

If you do manage to get your phpBB3 converted to phpBB2, you will need a convertor to convert the phpBB2 to PHP-Nuke. There are database differences. A convertor to PHP-Nuke should be available at a PHP-Nuke support site.
Have you hugged someone today?

Well you could try converting it to another system (e.g. PunBB, SMF, MyBB) then to phpBB 2.
