Parse error:syntax error

Post by Ikyoto » Sat Apr 22, 2006 7:26 pm

Here's the full error:

Code: Select all

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /****/********/public_html/test/includes/bbcode.php on line 49
and here's the line verbatum:

Code: Select all

$help_lang = (!empty($lang['bbcode_help'][(strtolower($EMBB_values[$i]))]) ) ? $lang['bbcode_help'][(strtolower($EMBB_values[$i]))] : $lang['bbcode_help'][$EMBB_values[$i]];
I can't figure out which whitespace it's trying to tell me about. Any suggestions.

This isn't a critical item as this is for the test forum I've made to make errors and learn from them in, so it's not a publically functional forum.

I'm finding that a lot of these mods no longer have support from the author. I've counted 6 mods today that I checked into that haven't seen postings from the author for months.

Unfortunately, most of them had to do with security and SEO optimization.

In fact after checking the author's web site it appears that he won't be doing anymore updating of his mods for 2.0.x

Then why the hell are we using phpbb? Why not vbulletin where I get the support I need...Why destroy such a good open-source forum such as PHPBB because the creators of the mod don't support the error that come about?

MOD Authors aren't phpBB. Don't judge phpBB because of a MOD Author. If you want to use VBulletin, then go ahead. No one is going to stop you.

With your problem, double check to make sure you installed everything correctly. I can't think of any reason why this MOD would cause that problem because it doesn't even touch the quoting code. It only adds code to includes/bbcode.php.

I'd guess that the problem is in the line above or a few lines above that one. I don't see any errors in that code. Post a few lines above that line.

You didn't update to 2.0.20 correctly.

bajanboost wrote: After I installed this mod, I am getting a serious error with quoting.

Instead of showing someone's quoted box, like this:
Quote this....

It just has the code, like this:

Code: Select all

 [quote]Quote this....[/quote]

Why is it not quoting correctly and showing just code?

I am having the same error on my boards... :(
