It has been a while now, and I absolutely do not like to bump up topics, but I still need help.

I installed the MOD exactly as descriped in the textfile, and still I get a blank page when I click on the ranks page.

Advice : replace in common.php :

Code: Select all

error_reporting  (E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE);
with

Code: Select all

error_reporting  (E_ALL | E_ERROR | E_WARNING | E_PARSE);
You will have a chance to get the error (probably not linked to the mod btw, but more certainly to another one).

Is it normal to get so many errors on your index all of a sudden?

But anyway, when I click on the ranks page, I get these errors:

Code: Select all

Notice: Use of undefined constant extended_rank - assumed 'extended_rank' in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php on line 37

Notice: Undefined index: Ranks in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php on line 178

Notice: Undefined index: ch_passwd in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\includes\page_header.php on line 478

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_rank_title() (previously declared in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php:45) in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php on line 59
BTW, I'm running this forum on my network, access from outside is not possible.

Something include twice ranks.php, probably a not correctly invoke page_header.php : are you running a portal or something like this ?

I'm using a mod called Configuration Map.

I found out that this mod uses both "U_RANK" and "L_RANK". Those two names were only in two seperated files which belong to this mod. There is no information about this mod in the page_header.

I renamed those two names in that mod. But I still get the same errors.

Furthermore I have the ranks in my memberlist, but I don't think that is causing this problem.

I do not use a portal, just a forum with a few mods installed.

I have installed your mod again, to make sure I did not make any mistakes. No, only these errors are left:

Code: Select all

Notice: Use of undefined constant extended_rank - assumed 'extended_rank' in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php on line 37

Notice: Undefined index: ch_passwd in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\includes\page_header.php on line 478

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_rank_title() (previously declared in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php:45) in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php on line 59

Give a try on a not modify phpBB 2.0.6, then compare your insert points with your current files.

I don't understand what is wrong anymore.

I installed your mod on a blank phpBB 2.0.11 on Lycos. Your mod worked.

Then, I replaced all my original files with the files from the blank forum, except for config.php.

And still I get the same fatal error. So, I think that there are no faults in my files. Could it be something in the database maybe?

It would be surprising, or you would have received an sql error message. However, it is quite easy to check : save your ranks table, and clear it, then retry. If ok, reinsert the first 10 ranks and retry, and so. If a problem stands in the data, you will see it within 10 rows.

Even without any ranks, I still get

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_rank_title() (previously declared in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php:45) in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\forum\ranks.php on line 59
I do not know anything about PHP, making this work kind of hard for me. I simply follow instructions, and I do understand some parts of the code. But I have no idea what to do with this error.

hmm... I'm still sure something include twice the page_header, and not correctly. Well, surround this function with a

Code: Select all

if ( !function_exists('get_rank_title') )
{
function get_rank_title( ...
{
...
}
}

Post by wolfz » Sat Feb 19, 2005 11:13 pm

how can i move in the index page when i'm not logged in, the register icon and text from first line to the third line?
I wanna register alone in the third line..
my problem born bacause in the first line i have:
faq,search,memberlist,user group and ranks... when i'm not logged register too..
so the ranks text is near user group and the ranks icon isn't visible.

I have read through all five pages of posts on this mod.

I *have* looked at the options on the php.

Ptirhiik - what can i change here:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM " . RANKS_TABLE . " WHERE rank_special = 1 ORDER BY rank_title";

So that I can choose the order of the layout of the Special Ranks? at the moment my Ranks page has all of my special ranks in alphabetical order. I would prefer to class them in groups, or in necessary assign each one a post minimum value which would be useless for anything other than assigning order.

I wish to have the blues together, the reds together, in decending order.

Any Advice?

oh btw with only one post to my name, i am the quintissential newb here on phpbb and to php in general. I have found your mods to be very useful.
