Re: Google Bots and calendar_sheduler.php

bqnm wrote: Hi there,

A few months ago we installed this mod and everything seemed to be working fine.

Over the time we noticed that our bandwidth was growing rapidly.

Now, we are every month exceeding our bandwidth limit of 20Gb.

Analysing our statistics we see that Google Bots are consuming 90% of our bandwidht (Check):
1 149025 22.42% 145810 30.80% 8671231 41.23% 84 1.84% crawl-66-249-72-68.googlebot.com
2 79096 11.90% 78262 16.53% 4654406 22.13% 39 0.85% crawl-66-249-72-50.googlebot.com
3 49758 7.49% 49087 10.37% 2928721 13.93% 19 0.42% crawl-66-249-72-104.googlebot.com
4 45706 6.88% 43614 9.21% 2507463 11.92% 23 0.50% crawl-66-249-72-109.googlebot.com

Verifiyng which files are been accessed by the bots, we see:
17934021kb 85.28% /foruns/calendar_scheduler.php

What seems to happen is the the google bots are stucked in calendar_sheduler and are consuming all our resources.

We need help, how can we solve this problem without removing the calendar mod. Any Information about this?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Nuno

I found out it is a conflict between Topic Calendar and bbProtection. They are working on a fix.

Just come across a problem with the MOD

In the admin Control Panel - Group Permissions the only permission I can set is Moderator. I installed the mod by copying across the installed pack.

It's also lost the ability to set user permissions as well.

Any ideas?

hey, this is great! just what we needed :D

couple questions:

1) SQL request failed (maybe already done) : ALTER TABLE phpbb_topics DROP INDEX topic_calendar_time

- don't worry about this right?

2) birthdays2.0.1b mod

- anyone have the driver for this? the date entered is DD Month YYYY with the month spelled out.

thanks :D

oh, and something that's just odd - Page generation time: 1173151548.8554s (PHP: 100% - SQL: 0%) - SQL queries: 47 - GZIP disabled - Debug on

only when we view the calender!!! weird, huh! it doesn't take that long (obviously) most pages display in .4 seconds

Anyone got a pointer to which file needs to be checked to see where the problem is?

You can only set permission if the forum auth is set private. This applies to all auths.

OK, another question re modding the mod

We only have events on 2 or 3 days of the week - is there any way of suppressing days that do not have an event from appearing in the calendar?

Thanks in advance

It has been invaluable in the community I run, and now that we are moving to a portal based frontpage with a php back-end, I really would like to include the calendar on the front somehow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: specifically, the calendar header bar across the top of the forum page.

I've been having a go at getting the calendar to appear in a separate page by taking code from the page_header.php and index.php files.

I now have an error message as follows:-

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in \phpbb\includes\class_calendar_backport.php on line 313
Line 313 is

Code: Select all

return $this->template->assign_vars($vararray);
Any thoughts on what I need to add to my test page to get round this error?

Thanks in advance

Multiple Calendars

Post by gillster » Wed Mar 07, 2007 3:56 pm

Is there any way that we can have different calendars for different forums, eg for private forums I want to have different calendars for these forums.

Is this possible?

That is a function of the calender - you get to select which one gets seen via a drop down list
