[2.0.19] Forum Icon with ACP Control

That's exactly what i mented...

But what is the name of the mod ???

After seeing it, I think it was done simply by adding IMG HTML tag when add/edit category name
i.e. In ACP, forum management, inside category name fields, instead of:

two quick questions..

1) i assume this will still work in 2.08?

2) have you updated it to get a list of icons yet? if not, is there a suggested/standard place to put them, or should i just randomly create a directory somewhere and throw them in there? ;)

Hi,

I have created a tiny add-on that would allow admins to select icons from the drop-down menu instead of having to type-in the URL.

You will have to COPY/UPLOAD your icons into /images/icons folder to make them visible in ACP

Thanks for the add-on. In the laest version of this MOD, drop down menu function is already added. (That version has yet to pass validation process, hence it is still in Beta forum) :o

  • Add an Forum icons to the rest of the templates
    Add image upload capabilities
    Make icons clickable

VodkaMan, you idea is very helpful, and I htink this MOD does need more improvement base on your suggestion to make it better.

I would try to get another release of this MOD soon, and add 2 more functions to it
  • Option to have forum icon set for each template
    Make icons clickable (Can be very easily done)
But I won't be making any upload function to this MOD :)

I tried to install this mod with Easymod and it appeared work fine.
However I then found "colspan=3" printed a the top of my forum index and the left hand index pannel of the Admin Index wouldn't display.

I recovered it ok by using the backups easymod had made.

Installing it by hand worked fine though, so now it works :)

A little bit more guidance on what path to use in the Forum Icon field on the Forum Managment screen would be useful.
Its from your phpbb directory.
e.g. If the images are in phpbb/imgaes/forumicons put:
./images/forumicons in to the Forum Icon field.

This MOD is NOT tested with EasyMOD and I didn't developed it to be compatible with EasyMOD, so I won't recommand you using it :wink:

BrandonE, this isn't the right part of index_body.tpl that you should look into.

If you don't know where certain code is, try to limit the number of words you use in your search, try something like:

Before you ask me to look it up for you, have you tried my suggestion and find out where to edit?

You have to try to do it yourself because this will NOT be the only time you need to change template files if you are going to install more MODs to customize your forum. You will have to learn your template because all MODs are written to suit ONLY on subsilver.
