Sorry man, I just found out my php editor doesnt look up in the source to find stuff in a search...only down. :oops:

Do you recommend a good php editor? Right now I use PHP Expert Editor and WordPad.

Hi, Vim is a very good text editor and work on various OS and the gui version (gVim) is very useful for windows users

If you are using Windows, you can download the MS-DOS and MS-Windows version at http://www.vim.org/download.php#pc and the Self-installing executable would be the best choice

I haven't tried that one, but TextPad ROX!
It's basically an overgrown version of jEdit with a more window-esque gui and terminology. Doesn't support encoding in multiple languages yet though, but their working on it.

On a mac or *nix, (or even windows if you need to encode in different langueges) go with jEdit. I gotta warn you though, if your a windows user, the jedit terminology is gonna put you on the bottom of the learning curve. ;)

Categories Hierarchy

Post by klent337 »

Mac,
I read throught this thread didn't see a fix for this mod with Categories Hierarchy.

Here is the lines for installation from 1.06 version of this mod. Everything above this section has been installed without any problems.

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/index_body.tpl

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	<th colspan="2" class="thCornerL" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{L_FORUM}&nbsp;</th>

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
colspan="2"

#
#-----[ IN-LINE REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
colspan="3"

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	<td class="catLeft" colspan="2" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><a href="{catrow.U_VIEWCAT}" class="cattitle">

{catrow.CAT_DESC}</a></span></td>

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
colspan="2"

#
#-----[ IN-LINE REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
colspan="3"

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50"><img src="{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_FOLDER_IMG}" width="46"

height="25" alt="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" title="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" /></td>

#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
	<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50">{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_ICON_IMG}</td>
I know that Categories Hierarchy moves the core of templates/subSilver/index_body.tpl
to
templates/subSilver/index_box.tpl
and to follow along with your installation instructions... here's what I find in index_box.tpl

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/index_body.tpl

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	<th colspan="2" class="thCornerL" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{L_FORUM}&nbsp;</th>
Here is what I find for {L_FORUM} search

Code: Select all

<th colspan="{catrow.tablehead.INC_SPAN}" width="100%" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{catrow.tablehead.L_FORUM}&nbsp;</th>
Which is located in this section of code

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN tablehead -->
<table width="100%" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" border="0" class="forumline">
<tr>
	<th colspan="{catrow.tablehead.INC_SPAN}" width="100%" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{catrow.tablehead.L_FORUM}&nbsp;</th>
	<th width="50" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{L_TOPICS}&nbsp;</th>
	<th width="50" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{L_POSTS}&nbsp;</th>
	<th width="150" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{L_LASTPOST}&nbsp;</th>
</tr>
<!-- END tablehead -->
This is the area where its has a dark blue backgroud with orange text in the top of the table... so I wouldn't think it goes in there...
So I move on... to the tablerow itself.

Here is your installation... for this next one...

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	<td class="catLeft" colspan="2" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><a href="{catrow.U_VIEWCAT}" class="cattitle">

{catrow.CAT_DESC}</a></span></td>

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
colspan="2"

#
#-----[ IN-LINE REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
colspan="3"
Here is what I find for U_VIEWCAT search since I know that it's not going to find the whole line of code...
This section is the general area

Code: Select all

	<!-- END inc -->
	<td class="{catrow.cathead.CLASS_CAT}" width="100%" colspan="{catrow.cathead.INC_SPAN}"><span class="cattitle"><a href="{catrow.cathead.U_VIEWCAT}" class="cattitle" title="{catrow.cathead.CAT_DESC}">{catrow.cathead.CAT_TITLE}</a></span></td>
	<td class="{catrow.cathead.CLASS_ROWPIC}" colspan="3" align="right">&nbsp;</td>
</tr>
<!-- END cathead -->
Here is the line I want....

Code: Select all

	<td class="{catrow.cathead.CLASS_CAT}" width="100%" colspan="{catrow.cathead.INC_SPAN}"><span class="cattitle"><a href="{catrow.cathead.U_VIEWCAT}" class="cattitle" title="{catrow.cathead.CAT_DESC}">{catrow.cathead.CAT_TITLE}</a></span></td>
Now this area if I understand it correctly automatically sets it up to increase as needed...

Code: Select all

{catrow.cathead.INC_SPAN}
SO I'm gonna pass on installing or changing this...

This is the next step....

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50"><img src="{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_FOLDER_IMG}" width="46"

height="25" alt="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" title="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" /></td>

#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
	<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50">{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_ICON_IMG}</td>
I find this line for the search on L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT

Code: Select all

	<td  class="{catrow.forumrow.INC_CLASS}" align="center" valign="middle" height="50"><img src="{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_FOLDER_IMG}" width="46" height="25" alt="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" title="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" /></td>
Now if I am guessing right I put this line underneath it...

Code: Select all

<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50">{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_ICON_IMG}</td>
So now it looks like this with the two lines...

Code: Select all

	<td  class="{catrow.forumrow.INC_CLASS}" align="center" valign="middle" height="50"><img src="{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_FOLDER_IMG}" width="46" height="25" alt="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" title="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" /></td>
	<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50">{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_ICON_IMG}</td>
Now for the final step...

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/viewforum_body.tpl

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	  <td align="left" valign="bottom" colspan="2"><a class="maintitle" href="{U_VIEW_FORUM}">{FORUM_NAME}</a>

#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
	  <td align="left" valign="bottom" colspan="2">

#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
{FORUM_ICON_IMG}
The Line I want has been changed because of Categories Hierarchy... here is that install I did...

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------------
#
	  <td align="left" valign="bottom" colspan="2"><a class="maintitle" href="{U_VIEW_FORUM}">{FORUM_NAME}</a><br /><span class="gensmall"><b>{L_MODERATOR}: {MODERATORS}<br /><br />{LOGGED_IN_USER_LIST}</b></span></td>
	  <td align="right" valign="bottom" nowrap="nowrap"><span class="gensmall"><b>{PAGINATION}</b></span></td>
	</tr>
#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]----------------------------------------
#
	  <td align="left" valign="middle" class="nav" width="100%"><span class="nav"><a href="{U_INDEX}" class="nav">{L_INDEX}</a>{NAV_CAT_DESC}</span></td>
	</tr>
  </table>

{BOARD_INDEX}

  <table width="100%" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" border="0" align="center">
So based on that I'm now looking for where the files went for Board Index.... according to Categories Hierarchy it got put into index_box.tpl

Okay I didn't enter any more codes and went with this as is...
It looks like it wants to work, but the colspan for index_box.tpl are all messed up. They are too short.

So I looked for this...

Code: Select all

colspan="{catrow.forumrow.INC_SPAN}
And manually changed it to actual numbers.

Now the layout is fixed I have an icon that shows up in ACP, but doesn't show up in the forum.

Got any thoughts to this?

The list box option for for admin to select an icon from a list of icons inside forum management, instead of typing in the icon path

NOT tested, try with caution

In index_body.tpl

Code: Select all

	<th colspan="2" class="thCornerL" height="25" nowrap="nowrap">&nbsp;{L_FORUM}&nbsp;</th>
colspan="2" change to colspan="1" (Or reduce by 1 with whatever number you have)

Same apply to

Code: Select all

	<td class="catLeft" colspan="2" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><a href="{catrow.U_VIEWCAT}" class="cattitle">{catrow.CAT_DESC}</a></span></td>
colspan="2" change to colspan="1" (Or reduce by 1 with whatever number you have)

Delete

Code: Select all

	<td class="row1" align="center" valign="middle" height="50"><img src="{catrow.forumrow.FORUM_FOLDER_IMG}" width="46" height="25" alt="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" title="{catrow.forumrow.L_FORUM_FOLDER_ALT}" /></td>
