ya'll validate mods to make sure that they're sorta well-representative of phpBB? ie. any mod released here is something that could be added, at any moment, to the actual phpBB code, and that ya'll don't want badly written or incompatable code potentially added?

as for the first part... no - all i know about MOD validation is what i've extrapolated on my own, heh.

seeing as at no point in time any MOD will ever be incorporated into phpBB

we validate to ensure that the MOD

1. will run on the minimum system requirements of phpBB (php3.0.9)
2. ensures it uses the DB
3. ensures compliancy of the implementation of the MOD Template for automatic installs
4. checks the codes to ensure given functionality
5. helps to ensure the security aspects of MODs
6. helps to ensure two MODs won't clash
7. all round makes sure the MOD is correct in everyway

you should really read this http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=218440

ask in the support forum or something, it's probably in the userguide, anyway this thread is not the place.

We have done an awesome job on validating MODs in the queue. MOD Authors should still expect one month before their MOD will be looked at. If it has been over a month, PM a member of the MOD Team and we'll check the status of your MOD.

Thanks everyone for your patience.

I'd like to endorse what wEric said and to add my thanks.

The mod validation team has been incredibly responsive. Not only did they work thorugh and validate 5 spearate mods that I had submitted within a month of submission, but when I submitted a couple of upgrades to mods recently, they validated those within 24 hours of submission.

Superb job, guys.

Hi!
I submitted a MOD called Welcome Panel On Index some days ago.... can u tell me if it's going to be validated or refused??? Last version I submitted should be 1.1.1 (the previous one I submitted, that is 1.0.0 had been refused)

You can go ahead and release it wherever you want. We just like to look through it and make sure it passes our standards. Yours could be different so go ahead and release it at your own site. It just has to pass our standards before we release it into our database.

it's your intellectual property, you have the rights to do whatever you want with it as long as it doesn't break the terms of the GPL that phpBB is released under (depending from MOD to MOD)

I'm perplexed how you think that isn't a release thread :?

The first one is a MOD-Database link, but the database just links over to Area51.

The second one was supposed to be a support thread (not a download) if Area51 went down, but wGEric closed it because it was being overused.

Just go to Area51. You might be interested in trying out the phpBB 2.2 board, it's really coming along!
